Just for another topic... Anyone think they'll unveil Asari Space in ME3? I hope they do. I wanna go see Thessia =D
I bet we'll see quite a bit of Asari space in ME3.......when we land on it to shoot up the 40 million husks a Reaper left there

It'll be weird, seeing Samara talking and acting like Rana, once she breaks character.
Or it could be really interesting
I wish i could be there too Rana, but.......if you come up to Comic Con in Toronto March 18th I would be<3:wub:
I would love to be there! Maybe next year? We'll see how it all goes once the costume is ready.. I'm hoping we'll be able to get some funding to travel with the Crabcat team from convention to convention!

Unless you're planning on both a Samara AND Morinth costume?

I thought the costume was already done and you were going to be able to dazzle everyone at PAX East... but I'm sure you guys had fun and that's what's most important. We'll just have to wait a little bit longer to see you in costume.

I was mistaken about this, too. Maybe next year, then.

As a huge fan of you, Samara, and Crabcat, I SO wish I could be there. I hope lots of other fans get to go though.
Hmmm, probably the Asari Councilor. Maybe Doctor Chakwas.

Yeah sorry a lot of people seemed to think that.. I was going to PAX east to support Crabcat Industries and talk about the project on the panel they had there! The Samara costume will take some time and I'm hoping if all goes well we'll be able to make Morinth eventually too! We'll be sure to keep everyone posted on the step-by-step process of it all. Check out "Friday Fun days" on www.crabcatindustries.com to see other amazing projects Holly Conrad and her team are putting together! Including another beautiful Asari - Aria!

It's a great experience and now you know more about what to expect in such conventions (in term of cosplay and fan attention). You'll feel a lot more at ease wearing the costume. Samara comes to,life indeed!ranamary wrote...

Rana, I remain impressed by your interaction with us, the fan base, and your enthusiasm for the game itself (or at least the character). You don't see Mark Vanderloo or even the VA's for Shepard on here. They just do their time and take their money to the best of my knowledge.
Even the Devs frequent this place less than you.
Thank you for your participation in our hobby and I feel honored to like a character who steals the face of a person like you.

Has anyone followed the trollish-looking thread about Morinth being a Moron (or some such)? It seems even Morinth suffers from being misunderstood... no wonder Samara gets hate!

Wut-wut? Linkage?
*ahem* Whilst not terribly official, I explained her carelessness when we meet her as her having reached the breaking point, and jumping off. (Via the events of Pariah)
I have little more in the ways of logic other than saying Shepard was catnip to her, like seemingly any other Asari, but moreso because of her vampiric nature.
Also, trying to write an original story about the Talinth coming into contact with Humans. (first contact themes, only Humans are the hostile aliens)
I am suddenly finding out how difficult it is to write about a single gender species. Either I just write the usual terms for the gender, or I make up words. "Szisere" is for fathers or "sire" Talinth in families, for example. But that's the word for a role that doesn't exist, so to speak.
Do you think I should use "girl/woman" etc or just struggle? Right now I do still use the word "child" since its gender neutral, but Talinth children, depending on age, are known as "kits." Even younger are "kitlings" - infants to about ten years old. "Pup" or "cub" never sounded quite right even though Talinth are feline.
Would Asari use the terms girl/woman? Or at least use words that translated as that to us? In that sense I could probably get away with it...

Atleast from what I've heard in the game, when Samara talks about Morinth to Shepard she uses 'she' and 'her'.

Hey! That's my thread! Did you read the OP? Mainly it just says that Morinth obviously didn't think through her decision to succubi Shepard ON THE NORMANDY because the ship has, in most playthroughs, at least 11 more highly deadly, highly destructive, and highly strong willed killers, one of which is her equal in terms of biotic strength. She signed her death warrant with Shepard's blood is all that thread is about.

I'm dissapointed that we won't be able to take Samara along on the Arrival DLC... it kinda removes some of the DLC's appeal to me. That and the fact the VS isn't involved either. Oh well... guess I can hang on to those few extra bucks a few months longer!

From a tactics standpoint, It's actually nice to get away from the squad-based tactics. If you play an Infiltrator, it is actually possible to bypass at least 2 fights (nice and logical if you're a role-player, boring if you're a shooter player). But this means no Samara with me, so this Arrival thing will wait a few more weeks before I buy it.

Partly the reason why I'm making a main theme of my WIP Talinth story, "Humans are Bastards."

So Talinth will be in the place of Humans when first contact occurs. Talinth only use guns as weapons via airforce, otherwise their ground troops are armed with swords, non--projectile explosives and tech-bows. All based around the general concept of honour, and if you must take a life, you have to be willing to face it. Taking out a target from a distance, in such a detached manner, is gutless to them.
I'm figuring this would make them look arrogant and/or primitive to the Human higher ups or just Humans in general. Things just start going south with Humans having little to no concern that they've found another intelligent species because said species is beneath them. I have a small timeline written out going from first contact and ending after twenty years where the Talinth have been subjugated under Human control. Beyond that point it's finally just fight or die ending in a massive rebellion.
Bonus Points: The Talinth lost so completely because one of their higher commanders betrayed them. (Humans had her family - and they have a penchant for experimenting on captured Talinth.)
What can I say, I'm feeling misanthropic from the running theme of Mass Effect. It confuses me further when people have said that aliens in fiction have to be human-esque so people connect with the characters more. How? Wrex is a total badass, so is Garrus, and they both have the least human faces in the game. I like Hanar, despite being technically faceless/featureless, and would be totally for Bioware giving us an important Hanar NPC in the next game. *shrug*
Now that I've veered totally off topic. Note: Excerpt.
What do you think Samara would do should a cure for AY pops up in ME3? Or at least treatment that actually works some. (lets pretend Morinth is still alive at this point as I remember us going over what her reaction would be if Morinth was dead when a cure crops up.)

Take a breath and take a step back, there are other ways to get to where you need to go without twisting things into an unrecognizable shape to get where you want to go.

There's plenty of "first contact" stories where aliens are hostile and again, Humans are Special. The theme is starting to irritate me.
