It's true that the squaddie version of the loyalty powers is not nearly as impressive as Shepard's; it works well in game mechanics but clashes with the lore. Having Shepard "reave" more powerfully than an "almost" asari matriarch doesn't seem consistent.

But I agree with Taritu and york: nothing in Samara's character specifically prevents her return if Bioware whishes her to come back. They're bringing back Garrus as a full(?) squaddie and that's not surprising, given that he's the most popular character AND a franchise poster boy since ME1. Having Samara come back to help enlist the asari in the fight for Earth as a single-mission squaddie doesn't sound unreasonable.

I'm really hoping Samara gets more than just a two second cameo in ME3... She's easily one of my favorite new squaddies (for ME2), and getting more time with her would be wonderful.

Shepard can Reave more "powerfully" than Samara because gameplay mechanics do not represent the lore.  It's that simple.

That's my point.

And yes, Samara has the great quality of leaving few indifferent. Most either love her or hate her, which is fine by me. Beats the hell out of being a "bland" squaddie.

That Shepard can "Reave" at all is a matter of gameplay mechanics, for that matter.  Can't have players feeling emasculated, by squadmates having cool shinies that Shepard doesn't get.  <_<

And there I was imagining Shep learning and practicing Reave with with his favorite justicar in the lulls between missions. Silly me... *sigh*

Oh well... ;)

If we accept that "Reave" exists at all, then we have to argue whether it's biotics or asari-biological. It breaks the rules of biotics, which is just mass manipulation. If it's asari-biological, no amount of practice can enable Shepard to "Reave.". "Reave" is more magic than biotics, or biology, anyway.

Playstation Magazine states that Samara and Morinth aren't confirmed for ME3. That's another source that leaves us hanging. Not confirmed isn't the same as excluded, though.

I was planning on a mass effect 3 media blackout, but since I subscribed to game informer I was unable to resist reading it. They really threw in the spoilers didn't they? I was disappointed Samara wasn't confirmed, since so many were in that article.

Which got me thinking, out of all the squadmates, isn't she the most likely to get a cameo? She has no connection to the asari race, and races and their problems are going to be the focus of mass effect 3. Also, she could be killed. It probably wasn't a popular decision, but it force BioWare to create whole new dialogue/missions in case someone did choose Morinth.

Yea...I caved and read the recent news bits as well. I actually prefer if they don't make Samara a squad mate (hear me out a second!) because there is going to be very little room for characterization in the next game and will be even more focused on plot events. I want her to be on one of those non-squad characters that gives missions and/or helps facilitates different missions in Asari space. That would be ideal, as Shepard can then have a developing dialogue tree consisting of mission focused questions + more Asari lore + more about Samara and what she's doing. She's likely to be back in Asari space anyway and a paragon Shepard should be able to have access to her. I think most of the squad mates that are returning are not going to have missions dedicated to them and so will have less development either way, and I prefer the next game to be a more focused effort as ME2 put a premium on adding 'mystique' to the ME universe.

I can't deny that having her as a squad mate with all those things I mentioned would be great, but at this point I'm not realistically expecting it. Actually, even what I'm expecting is probably too much to ask but entirely plausible.

*____*   be with you

Hey Samara fans!

I have a small request - I need a screenshot of err, the back of Samara's head and armour, and the lower half of her armour from the front. An odd request, I know, but I'm unable to find anything and can't get to my game at the moment.

Not quite what you're looking for. I'll look through my files and see if there's a better one. Most likely given how I loved snapping screenshots when around Samara.

Presumably, EAoware still has a little DLC left for ME2. The appearance packs. It'll be interesting to see what they give Samara. I just wonder how long they are going to milk these. There's two left, I guess, assuming all 12 squad mates will get one.

Hmm a different appearance for Samara could be good. I always thought she should've had something more...practical to wear, being a justicar and all.

She doesn't have any connection to the asari species?  The Code embodies the ideals of the species as a whole.  Young asari watch "vids" of fictional Justicar tales.  She could help Shepard to gain the trust of influential asari matriarchs.

Yeah...the justicar are to the asari what, um..the admirals are to the quarians?

I've always felt that way too.  The cleavage never has really fit, to me.

She looks more like a milf than a Justicar.:P

Mostly trying to avoid dlc spoiler. I'm waiting till they drop prices by alot, or offer a package deal. I'm not paying that much for a tenth of a game.

I have to saw I never really understood why Samara left her cleavage on show either. Seem s higly impractical for her lifestyle -  a nice, big "shoot me here" sign stuck to her chest. If they are planning another appearence pack, I would hope Samara is a part of it. (Unless they inlcude visors for everyone, again, pfeh)
