An emotional and painfull exchange for both Samara and Shepard.  I think this screenshot from this scene really reveals Samara's caring and loving nature.  It also displays her wisdom and discipline to choose the hard choice when necessary.

I don't see care on that face. I see: I am a predator, don't **** with me.

Yes but the previous and or next scene shows that she reached up and gently touched Shep's face right before turning around and leaving.  It's caring, sadness and regret that she can't accept what Shep's offering.

Ok, I just saw it. I was doing a little projection there. Usually play renegade, so I haven't seen this option. She does look empathetic, and she actually leaves her sanctuary in the observation bay.

Ouch!

In regard to her loyalty quest, I liked the idea, but the quest itself seemed a little cheesy and anticlimactic. She deserves another take.

Oh, come on! Samara's loyalty quest was the best of all.

It involved dancing and acting like a badass. That s about it.

I would have liked an extended chase/battle sequence with Morinth. Not just to grab her arm and tell her 'end of the line.'

But that's exactly what makes the mission so cool. You don't need to mindlessly click waves of mercs to death. Instead you have to do a few delightfully inconsequential things, that don't even earn you paragon/renegade points, then have a magnificently written dialogue with Morinth, that really gives you a sense of hunting a prey. You hunt Morinth, and she thinks she's hunting you, and you know that she is thinking that, and she doesn't know until the last moment that the acual prey is she, and you know that she doesn't know, but still she's a killer, and if something goes wrong, you're f*cked. That's thrill.

I liked the sense that I was hunting her as well, it was an interesting game of cat and mouse... only the roles were reversed from what Morinth thought they were.  It almost made me feel sorry for her.  Almost.

And then there was that moment of dark temptation to side with her.

I've never given in. Samara is alive in all 11 of my playthroughs.

Many pages, this is good...

On note of that picture; sadface :(
I know how it'll end, I know it won't happen, but I go through with that scene every time. That lingering touch just before she leaves doesn't help any :<

I confess. I hadn't experienced that scene in before. It is rather touching.

I killed her only once. *shame* In my defense, it was because I wanted Morinth's power. I skipped the killing scene and reloaded afterwards so I could do it properly and help her kill her daughter.

I've seen Samara getting killed on YouTube though. The way she scuffled (is that the right word?) backwards, while Morinth approached her... It was not like she was making a helpless impression or looked like she was afraid to die, but still... Horrible scene, even when I was not the one who made the choice to kill her.

It has the ability to really draw one in IMO.  Arguably the most dramatic scene with another charcter in the game.

Rikketik,

I know that you probably put your second sig banner there jokingly, but I can't tell you how many times I've had to argue with people who took the bachelor party conversation seriously.   It's frustrating <_< Of course, I'm easily trolled by people who seem to be taking it seriously, too.

Haha, sorry about that. If it makes you feel better: it's indeed intended as a joke. I just really like Asari and I needed something ingame to put in there as sort of a punch line. The whole 'bachelor party, asari mind control' seemed fitting. I don't think it's true, though. Every race just focuses on what they like. In my case their human build, not the weird tentacles on their heads.

Felt temptation? No. Morinth can't measure up. I sometimes feel sorry for her, but am never inclined to betray Samara.

Mordin does talk about Asari pheromones aboard the Normandy. In an environmental trigger on Illium, he talks about how he gets "strange feelings" around the Asari. They activate his breeding instinct, which is odd, because Salarian males don't typically get randy. Salarians take no pleasure in the...act.

But believe me, it's there. Some very nasty feeling of being inclined to do that for no apparent reason. Morinth is was very good at getting under your renegade skin. (Kudos BioWare & Natalia Cigliuti.)

I think this analysis matches up pretty well with the Asari biology.  Since the Asari can breed with practically any species, it makes sense that their pheromones would not only be strong, but alluring to a very broad spectrum of aliens.

Yes, it does make sense.  I don't think pheromones qualify as proper "mind-control", since sexual arousal is resistable, but the "Asari mind-control" paranoids will take what they can get, you know what I mean?

Mordin does?  Now I'm going to have to keep talking to him in order to get that conversation option.  I've gotten his singing one but never that.

I'll confess - I'm glad Samara rejects Shepard. I prefer it that way. Gives more depth to her character. Just my opinion, obviously.

That's assuming it's not leathery feeling with some sort of cartilage underneath, in which case it would be not so much "squishy" as "rubbery" or elastic, rather like rubbing the tip of your nose. :)
