Well, it looks OK I guess. But when you try to stroke one's hair, you'll
notice there is no hair. Just squishy... stuff...

I'm sure it's just as weird the other way around for non-humans.  We sprout thin strands of protein from our scalps.  How curious!

That's assuming it's not leathery feeling with some sort of cartilage underneath, in which case it would be so much "squishy" as "rubbery" or elastic, rather like rubbing the tip of your nose. :)

Have you seen the fanart comic of Shepard trying to get an Asari to let her touch their head?  She goes to Liara and Samara, and both tell her to get lost, but Samara does it a bit painfully.

Hmm. I never really thought about the tentacles. I always assumed they were tough. Not skull-hard, but sturdy. I honestly have no idea.

Yeah, the Shepard with a tentacle fetish. That was funny! Posted Image

Bioware doesn't go in to it anywhere, though they have to be able to fit easily in to helmets designed for humans, since Liara can wear human armor in  ME1.   That is, if we accept that something like that can qualify as evidence.

I  think they're mostly soft and fleshy, with a cartilaginous ridge going down the center to give them a bit of support and rigidity.   We can see the ridge through the skin.

That would make the most sense, otherwise it would be uncomfortable.

They are fleshy, no doubt. Like a squid's tentacles.

Looking back at the scene where Samara kills Morinth, what do you think of morinth saying that she was the genetic destiny of the asari race and that 'they' are not ready to reveal it? Who's they? and although Samara is quick to shrug it off as just claiming her daughter has gone nutty, do you think maybe she is hiding something more sinister?

But if it were that obvious then I'm sure she wouldnt mention something that heavy weighted; I mean usually when someone whips out the line 'I am the genetic destiny' or something along those lines, its quite a big story advance, no?

But what will happen if two Ardat-Yakshi's mate with each other? Maybe they'll die both... =O

Some people claim that there's a massive Asari conspiracy to control the spread of the AY by having Asari authorities spread the lie that the AY are sterile when, in fact, they're not. They claim that an AY can meld with a partner with the intention of becoming pregnant, thus killing the partner in the process, but still allowing fertilization.

A source from Bioware told us that that the AY are, indeed, sterile, in every sense of the word. The person is a level-designer, and posted here on the forums in response to this debate. A level-designer might not be as clued-in on ME plot as a writer proper, but it's better than pure speculation.

If the AY are sterile, what Morinth says makes no sense.

That sounds funny to me for some reason.Posted Image I don't think Morinth meant anything by it.  She thinks the Ardat-Yakshi are the Asari's destiny because she is one herself. Merely defiance on her part. Besides, as others have pointed out, she won't be having children any time soon.

Well, Samara said that Ardat-Yakshi gain strength/power from their bonding/melding, so maybe Morinth was implying it was a means for Asari to be stronger?

It doesn't necessarily have to be through conventional methods. Just like the reapers turned the protheans into collectors, perhaps there is a more sinister allusion to what may first come to mind. Any ideas as to who she means by 'they'?

Tell me if you think this is a pointless discussion...

A sterile, all-powerful species is still sterile.  I doubt that there's a Virmire-esque cloning facility somewhere churning out AY Asari to bypass their sterility, since the Asari conception process isn't as "easily" handled as it is with putting gametes in to an egg, as with other species.

I'm not debating that. I was just saying, despite the one flaw of sterility, Morinth might see the power granted to her as an Ardat-Yakshi as an... apex of asari evolution. A narrow-minded outlook, yes. But why be reliant on other species when you can suffocate them with your power then devour their own power? Asari live for a thousand years, that's a lot of time to murder and accumulate "power" for one's self. Maybe I'm not wording what I mean well. But like Samara said, it's not a very feasible path for the asari race to follow.

"WE ARE YOUR GENETIC DESTINY"

"SALVATION THROUGH DESTRUCTION"

So I've come to the conclusion that Morinth is or is controlled by a Reaper. Just look at the facts and it'll all make sense! Reapers talk about salvation through destruction. That's exactly what Morinth is saying too. She will mate with you, you will not live to tell it, but you have contributed to the genetical destiny (i.e. salvation) of the asari race.

Oh boy, this is groundbreaking stuff. I've got to inform the news!

Akward, frustrating, and teasing by Bioware.

It's a worse cliffhanger than the reaper cliffhanger IMO

The Reaper cliffhanger makes a huge grin spread across my face every time I see it. BRING IT!

The Samara cliffhanger makes me want to march into Bioware and cry/scream. =P Big child response...*cough*
