Although I was disappointed that you can't romance Samara- well, not completely, I assumed it was because a justicar is a sort of a jedi. And we all know what happened to Anakin when he let love cloud his judgement. However, I also can't imagine having to live hundreds of years without love. In a way it makes me feel sad for her.

Unlike Jedi, Justicars are allowed romantic involvement (a much healthier attitude in my view). Samara, being being well into her final matron/early matriarch years, is like an older widow who's drunk of family bliss to the bitter lees. She might have felt otherwise had she been younger, but now I think her denial of Shepard is her own choice, not something the Coded prohibited her to pursue.

Either she is happier not getting involved, or she may let herself get involved one she has made peace with Morinth's death.

Now while physical contact makes the bonding between mates easier (especially for reproduction purposes), close proximity may be emotionally satisfying enough that Samara could feel loved by Shepard even if they never "made love" or even if Shepard only viewed her with affection instead of "love" in the usual sense. It would make for a rather sensuous story, where a friendly hug from Shepard would feel the same as a kiss to Samara. A purely platonic relationship from the outside, a story of profound affection and romance on the inside.

Hey, you wouldn't want Samara to be just a human female with blue skin, right? Posted Image

To take a page from the  Shepard &  Liara fanfic, www.fanfiction.net/s/5789390/1/The_Distance_Between_Two_Stars (Don't read the epilogue unless you have a fresh box of tissues at-hand):

And when age, not a bullet, or the Reapers, finally claims Shepard, Samara will be at his side, solemn and silent.  She will do for him what she thought she would never do again for anyone else - join minds - until she feels him slip away.

(Just typing that choked me up.)

Do you think it is more exhaustive when mild mending with an older Asari compared to a younger one, given the vast amount of experiences they can acquire. In the case of sex, would it be more pleasurable? lol

Hey guys and gals.

Blackveldt put together a great renegade trailer.

Here is another vid that Blackveldt pieced together with Femeshep as a renegade.

Who knows?  I suppose personally if I was going to mind meld with one, then I would prefer an older one versus a younger one because the experience factor may help facilitate a broader type experience and pleasure.;)

My favorite moment... Posted ImageI'll try to get a capture of this with the right aspect ratio.

I think Liara found it exhausting because she is young and she was trying to help Shepard "sort" through the jumbled images the Beacon seared into his memory. Shiala certainly didn't seem to have experienced discomfort when she "downloaded" the Cypher into Shepard's brain on Feros. And judging by her reaction to Shepard in ME2, I suspect that during the meld she was impressed by Shepard's exceptional willpower (i.e. she now finds him attractive by asari standards).

I would suspect a mature asari like Samara could even feel "aroused" simply by standing next to Shepard, assuming an attraction exists. The biotic "flare-up" we see in the "almost kiss" scene suggests so. It's evocative of a human blushing which, in a species that values willpower, would feel rather embarassing.

It seems like Samara, who is grieving, is ashamed of feeling attracted to Shepard in spite of circumstances. Worse, the attraction troubles her so much she briefly loses self-control and lets her biotics flare up... no wonder she flees the room!Posted Image

On the positive side, I think it bodes well should Samara return in ME3.Posted Image

As for sex, I don't think it requires much effort on the asari's part, regardless of age, as Liara describes it more like a sharing rather one partner having to "search" through the other person's mind. In short: it's a communion, not a mind probe.Posted Image

I wonder about different Justicar personalities. Are some Justicars more cruel and swift in their interpretation of the Code, could others be more liberal? Is there a corrupt Justicar who only became one to get stronger and become above the law. I know it probably contradicts the whole idea of a Justicar but there is always exceptions to the rule.

From Samara's comments, the Code, while extensive, appears to cover things rather well, leaving little room for interpretation. But it's not impossible two Justicars might disagree on a specific case. Given the ancient history of the Order, some form of ritual trial by combat might be used to settle any argument over what course should be followed. Especially when we hear Samara describe her encounter with Nihlus as "exhilarating", as if Justicars enjoy it when combat is used to resolve an issue/point of law. Nihlus essentially used the Code against itself, so contradictions ARE possible.

"Verse 657 is clear, my crewmate must be allowed to live in order to stop this injustice."
" I disagree, honored sister: verses 852 and 966 say otherwise."
"We have a dissagreement and that is... unfortunate. Will you do me the service of acting as my second, Shepard?"
"What? You're gonna FIGHT over this???"
"Is there any other reason for fighting higher than Justice, human?"
"..."
"Your concern is... appreciated. I am confident Asorna will yield to my argument in short order..." Posted Image

I love Shepards reaction here, I'm right with her.

... I found her to be too childish, and manipulative(to each there own preception, eh). Which is how I viewed the asari in general after playing ME(even the first playthough). Not bc of her alone; all of them contributed to this. Liara, Shi'ira, Benezia, Shiala all were manipulators.

Liara, Oh poor me, I'm tired after the joining;  "are you coming to look like a fool for falling for my see though little game, commander?". Benezia, I want power, wait no I don't. I'm trying to make the galaxy a better place.(by sitting behind a puppet, hiding the fact that I want power.) Shiala, gets lumped in with Benezia, and Shi'ira just made me sick.Posted Image I was just as offended with her touching me in ME, as I was Miranda's ass waving shots attempting to treat the player like a mindless tool. I couldn't stand, nor did I trust  the Asari after the first game.

The exploration, and copying of genetic traits also disturbed me greatly. I mean when you look around ME, the Asari are blending with males(not that sex is an issue for them) of all species on the citadel. Yes, we see them spending time the with females(human) too. However, the other races, IIRC, keep their females in their own space for one reason, or another. This always bothered me bc it leaves that role to be filled with a race of manipulators. "like gardening..," take what we need from here, put out a little there, and no ones the wiser. (Expect the worst, hope it really not this way.)

Samara changed the way I view thier species as a whole. Her straight forwardness is refreshing; and even if the conversation isn't a completely open one, her dialogue is still direct. I don't know. Maybe the Justicars came about bc the Asari are so damned manipulative in the first place? Posted Image

Each one of the Council species earned their seat on the Council because of a particular strength:

Turians: strenght of arms + society that prizes duty above personal gain
Salarians: ingenuity driven by short life span and accelerated metabolism
Asari: bountiful blue bosoms? Posted Image I think not... but Aria makes no bones about it: asari come with certain "advantages" they have learned to put to good use... and those include being VERY convincing. So yes, I agree that asari are "manipulative" insofar as they know how to convince others to agree to their views. It makes them consummate diplomats, politicians, bards... ah I meant spies(commandos)...

The asari were the first species to discover the relays in this current cycle but did not seek to keep the knowledge for themselves, rather they willingly shared it wth the other races of Council space. It shows either:

they are an enlightened species who believe shared knowledge and purpose is beneficial to all, or
they can seduce/manipulate any of the orther races to their advantage.

I won't try and ascribe any particular motivation to the asari, but I know they value willpower and personality first over other qualities a person may have. A smart willfull person knows he can get a lot more done by convincing others to help out, rather than doing the job alone.

But this only remotely concerns Samara...

Ah the source of the Asari catnip Shep seems to have, willpower - check; personality - check.

Lovely sentiment at the end there.  I do wonder if that would be something Asari do, the melding I mean.  I would think it would be slightly dangerous to attune nervous systems with someone who is dying.

A bit of foreshadowing there? I believe Samara is going to finish what Garrus started in Omega...
