I have never used Sten in any of my games, so no loss there. I guess you can turn Zevran into the role Leliana would often play. You will get Oghren later who is better than Sten in my opinion if you need a two hander. You haven't screwed your game over, and you'll want to replay it anyway with a new character later.

Its strange how Alistair didn't care at all when I killed the child in Honnleath.

While that child was also obviously possessed, she had no connection to Eamon.  It's the Eamon connection that upsets Alistair.

Yes.  Prior to your encounter here, Alistair talks about how it was the hated Isolde who didn't like him around and had him sent to the Chantry then if you go with the Jowan option and allow her to sacrifice herself you lose HUGE acceptance points - mainly because he was the Arl's wife.  And with Conner, at the start he says that he would never be in favor of killing a child but in this case it is a possessed child.   But afterward he jumps all over you because it was the Arl's son.  Personally, I have no problem with killing Isolde.  If the villagers knew it was her behind the evil, they would storm the castle with torches and pitchforks.

Now this may be a glitch/bug in fact it probably is, but if you kill Isolde it is possible to gain approval with Alistair.  Not so with Connor as far as I've tried.

Now it's been a while since I went through that conversation but is there a "I didn't see you coming up with any better ideas" option?  Or some other means of beating Alistair over the head with the fact that there was no good choice (Circle not withstanding)

I liked the Cunning response to his reaction for this...something like "So this is about you and him (the Arl) and not me at all."  I still lost -10, but he at least seemed to realize he was being a jerk about it.

DPSSOC, I remember that line and if your persuasion is high enough, you can pacify Alistair somewhat but you still lose points with him. Maybe 7 I think. And AnniLau, I did that one too and got knocked down 10. What gets me is if you take your evil crew to do the deed, (Morrigan, Sten, Dog) you still lose points with Alistair right there then back at camp you lose more when he confronts you.

The whole 'Alistair hates the PC for killing Connor' is messed up anyways. Alistair does suggest it, but when the PC takes his advice, he blows up at her. That's way too inconsistent, and makes Alistair seem to be in the psychologically weird zone.

Me thinks Alistair has issues with people that are not human nobles.

Sten is darkspawn fodder if left in Lothering. You'll never be able to return to that village, it's deader than a doornail, overrun by darkspawn.

You can leave and come back, but I think Lothering is over run after you get a faction to join your cause. I'm pretty sure I immediately left Lothering to get the Archivist's sash in Denerim. I then returned to Lothering.

Tip: Don't bring Morrigan to the Circle of Magi with you. She'll open her big mouth and you'll end up killing Wynne if you listen to her.

Just don't agree with her, you only lose a couple points. Or leave her behind and then when Wynne joins the party you'll get the chance to change your party. Select Morrigan at that time.

There is a third way, which I almost pulled off but accidentally messed it up. If you take things slow and pay attention to the conversation between your party, Jowan, Isolde and Bann Teagan, you should be able to get help from the Circle of Magi and possibly save them both.

You should be able to figure out the chooses that would allow both to survive, you or another party member will enter the Fade. Just exhaust some of the speech options so that if you select a party member you don't lose approval because you didn't ask them first.

A big help in avoiding missing a lot of the things you can interact with is to hit the "tab" key. It highlights everything nearby.

 True. Very true.

@ Tim15856

Yeah, the PC has to have done at least one questline. The OP did however state that she/he finished the Redcliffe arch. At least I assumed that Connor is the kid she/he killed, because Alistair doesn't mind the Honnleth girl getting killed.

In my current playthrough my Warden has reached Level 10 Warrior and Lothering's still on the map because I haven't done any of the four major quests yet. I've done loads of sub-quests as well as two of the three DLCs (putting RtO off until I've got Wynne). I'm just trying to see how long I can put off the destruction of Lothering until I've run out of sub-quests to do. (I know as soon as I agree to enter the Magi Tower that that's a Point of No Return; and Redcliffe has a time limit as well once you start that. I'm not sure if the Dalish and Orzammar have similar PoNRs.)
