Then keep your friend with the turian avatar in check. He tarnishes your own good image.
Don't be mad that your straight bashing pissed off someone that can hold his own against your community.
Let us know when they show up please! You might need to start a thread or two on /b/ to try to get some of your HARDCORE friends help you.
I just find it so funny, that after being faced with defeat, after Dr. Muzyka basically spelled it out for you, you refuse to submit to reason. You're a fool.

How it hasn't been locked and the OP banned is beyond me. I've seen threads locked because people were asking for a helmet toggle yet this smallminded crap hangs around?
One of my best friends is gay and frankly it's attitudes like these that have made their life a lot harder than it should have been, seriously grow the **** up.

Indeed, last page or two, people just arguing and baiting up for the flamewar. I won't be a part of it. Pages 1-6 are pretty much the whole argument summed up. No need for further discussion.

You need to stop posting that link as if it's a perfect answer to everyones' questions. You started this thread, i think many things are up still up for debate here.
This. If he wanted to stop this post, why answer almost every response to this? He's waving the link in front of everyone's face as if saying, "See! I was right! Now I can sleep, secure in the knowledge that my character's 'defined sexuality' is fit to be played!"
Or something like that.

You don't have to choose it and not allowing it is to not acknowledge the fact that we have progressed further along on acceptance of one's sexual orientation. I think someone said this but think of it like this, what if it was reversed, how would that move you? Imagine if you could only choose a gay relationship being hetro...it would suck and you wouldn't go there right? I try to keep an open mind and respect other's viewpoints, as I am trying with yours (meaning the OP.) My best friend is a Police Officer and decorated Marine, one the best friends a guy could ask for. Being gay doesn't make you less of a person and being straight, as long as I don't get hit on, I have no problem with people of that orientation. Anyways, my two cents...happy gaming.

Oh. Heh. Man. I thought you were self-aware, my bad.
But no, seriously, tough guy, we're all impressed.
What community is it you think I'm a part of, anyway? I'm straight. I'm just not from Mississippi.

Each Shepard is unique and therefore should have the right to be played how we, the player, decide to play them. Characters in the story should be able to react to such a small change, a Gay male Shepard should have the option to, or at least ability to try to, romance anyone he chooses. A handful of dialog options are not and would not be too costly, especially to correct the unfair bias against the GLBTQ community that has emerged with this game.
Any character in game can be any sexuality they want, because no one here knows every single thought and detail in those characters lives and minds. How do you know Thane doesn't like guys, and has never been with one? Are you so much of an expert in Miranda's background that you are 100% certain she isn't curious? You are not, and you cannot be.

Sigh...I said no such thing about wanting to beat up homosexuals. But in accordance with my starting position I wont be flamebait for you.
The fact that you keep mentioned these attorneys and such is so rediculous, even Illierianna (who most of the time opposes my view) called you on it.
I'm in England mate, your lawyers can't do a damn thing. Not to mention how flimsy the premise is. "Someone said somthing bad to me on the net so I'll take em to court!"
Are you insane?
Threatening-hate-speech against somebody due to sexual orientation actually IS illegal in the UK, FYI.

I find it so funny that despite all of your homophobia and racism, you still can't change the fact that you play a bisexual every time you boot up ME2.

If Mass Effect WAS to be a 3rd person narrative with a set storyline, I wish it had been marketed as such. I bought it under the pretense of a "customizable Shepard with an immersive and OPEN ENDED storyline".
Or tell Steam/Valve to get their descriptions right.

It's amazing to me that Bioware allows a thread titled "Gays Whining" to go on this long, but they instantly shut down any thread talking about gay romance in Mass Effect. Haven't there been threads shut down every day on that topic?
Clearly Bioware is ambivalent about its gay and lesbian fans. That interview someone linked to where they talk about 3rd person versus 1st person is a cop out and a bunch of crap. The Mass Effect team CLEARLY has issues about gay characters (isn't Mass Effect developed in Texas now?) and they are trying to rationalize their inability to allow for a MM Shepard romance. It's not that it wouldn't fit into the story. The fact is that they don't WANT to fit it into the story. That's the difference. If they really cared they would make an effort.
Why don't they make an effort? Could be lots of reasons. Homophobia, lack of corporate support, or some combination. Yeah, the anti-gay posters who abound in these forums are annoying, but the fact is that Bioware is supporting them by making specious arguments about 3rd person vs 1st person nonsense.
As someone who works in the gaming industry I call bulls**t on Bioware, because that's what that interview is.
Why is it that Bioware has to do everything to please everyone? They made THEIR game and that is how it is going to be. This is the equivelent of going to an author of a novel and complaining the main character isn't gay so change it or make a gay version of the novel. They are the artists, and they can craft the game to their liking, with or without gay characters.
Having gay-romances in your video game isn't a human right. You don't like the game, don't buy it. You must not realize the huge gay-romance thread which should have been locked down long time ago that still exists.
Freedom of speech goes both ways. You are allowed to spew your general nonsense, and Bioware, as the creator of the game, is allowed to not have any gay romances in their games.

As much as I find this thread odd, there is the point if that was to happen it would not sell many games. Last I checked majority of the human population was still heterosexual.JohnnySmash wrote...
How would you like it if in ME3 you could only play as a gay Shepard and you couldn't romance any of the girl characters even if you tried? Would probably just be annoying the whole game, right? Gay romances didn't hurt Dragon Age, they wouldn't hurt Mass Effect either.
Oh and for the record I could'nt care less if there was a gay romance option for Shephard.
