Another poster made a very good point, it wouldn't harm anyone's playthrough who didn't want it but it could actually mean a lot to some kid trying to come to terms with himself. Why do you think so many gay youths get so into gay cinema? Or subtext? It's so rare to see any positive recognition of their sexuality, and you are actually congratulating a company for actively adding to that sorry state of affairs. Even if you weren't a bigot that would be enough to be disgusted at.

So your knowledge of nature is innate? Homosexuality happens everywhere in the animal kingdom, it's pretty natural by most definitions.

I think you're taking that part out of context. He's not saying, being gay tarnishes everything, but because this game is SOLELY on a 1 person hero for an entire galaxy, that to give that option would, in some way, destroy that image, even if it meant that you just gave them an option to be gay.

In some way, I do understand the small gay community, but when you're talking about making a huge and epic story, some things wouldn't sit well with a much larger community. It's about making a character so iconic, and it's also about business.

I don't really understand how playing a video game and finding out it doesn't have a gay romance option would make them feel worse about themselves? It's a game. If that's how they percieve it, then that's ridiculous. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, so are the developers of the game we all enjoy playing. So I don't see why it's so horrible for them to not add it to this game. God forbid there's not one miniscule thing, everyone has to go bat ****.

But there is no need for this gay hate, or straight hate if there is even such a thing. It's a game, enjoy it. If you are so upset about the romantic part of the game, you truly are missing out on so much more of the game.

If you think threats of violence against people for their orientation/ beliefs is "silly good fun" we'll just have to disagree. 

Why is it so odd that I sent those posts to my buddy to look at? At the very least it will provide interesting conversation over a couple of beers.  We spend hours talking about morals/ ethics/ philosophy... I have a hard time believing that is so uncommon that you find it odd.

I applaud you for maintaining a civil tone in your post.

Do a simple thought experiment... pick some part of your identity and then imagine it has been completely eliminated from mass effect... I can tell you are smart, so I'll let you pick one and post back about it.  How would that make you feel?  Both about the game and about yourself?  Try to put yourself in the position of a minority that CONSTANTLY feels persecuted.
