So you're saying, putting words in my mouth, saying that I'm giving BioWare all the credit and that I don't want any gay features in the game? No you fool, if BioWare were to put gay content in ME series, I honestly wouldn't care. To ME? I just won't pick the gay option. Simple as that. So I don't see why it's so horrible for them to not add it to this game. God forbid there's not one miniscule thing, everyone has to go bat ****.

But there is no need for this gay hate, or straight hate if there is even such a thing. It's a game, enjoy it. If you are so upset about the romantic part of the game, you truly are missing out on so much more of the game.

It's not just the game, almost all media shows heterosexuality as the norm. The correct thing to do.

The pure lack of homosexuality in mainstream media has a tendency to breed neurosis, you'd be surprised at just how much of your own personal self is constantly validated by media every single day. Now imagine if everything you watched on tv made it seem like everything you did was wrong.

Now this isn't Bioware's fault, it's just how society works and gradually it's changing. The problem is that somewhere along the line they decided not to have this in the game, I can't even begin to vouch for their motives so I won't. It's not something "wrong" on their part, it's simply sticking to an unjust status quo.

Considering how little would be changed and since it's a game based on choice though, the reasons for leaving it unspoken just can't compare to the reasons it should be added. Not for some vocal bunch of gay fans, but for society as a whole and as an attempt to move interactive media up a notch in the artistic scale.

But like other people are saying too, if you don't like the series, don't play it. They won't add gay content in it, so don't buy the games if they don't. You're only supporting them and gaining nothing out of it. But if they decide to, well that's cool.

So your knowledge of nature is innate? Homosexuality happens everywhere in the animal kingdom, it's pretty natural by most definitions.

Maybe Mark Vanderloo (the real face of Sheppard) didn't want to see a virtual representation of himself being "too friendly" with another guy.



And maybe it's the same for Yvonne Strahovski, that would explain why there's no possible lesbian interaction with her.

I'm just going to say that as someone whose dealt with **** from many people in the past (not for being gay) there's an inherent problem in something the OP said.

"I don't have a problem with gay people being open and gay in the world, I just don't want it in my favorite videogame."

Whatever the group you refer to, its just as rude and homophobic to 'not want them' in your game. Besides, its not as if you're forced down this road. You may just as easily ignore the homosexual romances, were they to be present. If you were a straight male and a gay man hit on you, wouldn't you make it clear you aren't interested? Then, things could progress on the friendly level with said character in a completely normal manner.

P.S. lesbian thing- double standard, no justification for -not wanting- gay romances in the game.

Why will a lesbian romance or an approximation be in, while a male romance won't be? For reasons of the double standard. That's the reality, but the reality makes it no more acceptable, OR okay.

I also come from a position of understanding here. Okay Bioware, you don't want to push the envelope here. I can hardly blame you, its a dangerous topic. Just knowing its wrong and taking steps in the right direction in the future is enough for me.

P.S. don't shoehorn a character into homosexuality. It should be part of a character, not tacked on.

I applaud you for maintaining a civil tone in your post.

Do a simple thought experiment... pick some part of your identity and then imagine it has been completely eliminated from mass effect... I can tell you are smart, so I'll let you pick one and post back about it.  How would that make you feel?  Both about the game and about yourself?  Try to put yourself in the position of a minority that CONSTANTLY feels persecuted.

I myself am gay, so I do know what it's like to feel left out of a certain community, if you will.I have been made fun of just as much as the next gay person. But, I have never thought throughout the game "Wow, this is depressing, or discriminate against gays that I can't romance another man." or that it doesn't acknowledge my being gay or something to that effect. I play the game, because the story is amazing and I just like shooting crap. Every game is different, and I don't see why it should be made to everyones specifications. I highly doubt Bioware was making the game thinking "We're making this game to cater to ALL the staight people in the world. Screw the gays!"

I see where some of you are coming from, but your anger shouldn't be focused on the people on these forums, but in actual gay problems throughout the world.
