The only people that are actually addressing the issue at hand are not even arguing anymore. People like endurance_117 just come on and post direct quotes from CEOs at Bioware saying that they specifically designed Shepard to be a certain way, and that the character isn't supposed to represent you or your exact choices. This is why the dialogue wheel doesn't clearly represent what Shepard is going to say. There's no point in discussing. The reason that male Shepard cannot have gay sex is because he is not gay. Mario RPG was an RPG, and there weren't even any romances in that. Oh my god, it is discriminating against people with sexual preferences.

Get over yourselves.

But Shepard is a lesbian.

If someone is male then they cannot be lesbian, therefore your rebuttal is defeasible. If you mean say that female Shepard is lesbian, then fine, I can see how you would say that, but it still makes no difference. It merely means Bioware designed the female Shepard to be lesbian and the male Shepard to be heterosexual. Is this the point you are trying to argue against?

female Shepard isn't necessarily lesbian. She can be either, why not male Shepard? Every aspect of Shepard is almost entirely in the player's control, EXCEPT for a guy boning a guy. The explanation is probably more along the lines of "making Shepard be possibly gay would put off our male fanbase" There is nothing wrong with this line of thinking, it may even make good buisness sense. But to say that he's not gay because he's a pre-Defined character is rediculous.

That is generally what we're all trying to say, that lesbian option is ridiculous compared to what's been said.
But nooo, straight bashers to the core. Trollers and people with delusions.

Mass Effect it's more about Shepard as a defined character with certain approaches and worldviews, and that's just who he or she is. So we constrain the choice set somewhat, but enable more tactical choices and enable a deeper, richer personality, because it's more focused around defining one character, it's not as wide open. But that's by choice.

That basically says if he wasn't gay in the first two, he won't be gay in the last

Really? Every aspect? I don't remember having to take bathroom breaks, sleeping in between travel, taking showers, shooting Saren at Virmire rather than letting him get away, clothing myself, having the in between chats with crew mates that would make our relationships actually seem realistic, riding the Citadel transport around, living my entire childhood and military career, fighting on Elysium/Akuze/Torfan, etc. etc.

The reason male Shepard cannot be gay but your DA character can be was already explained by Muzyka's (?) quote that Endurance_117 posted earlier in the thread.

I'm sorry, but if you wish to continue discussing homosexuality in Mass Effect 2, you'll have to start a new thread without the confrontational thread title, name-calling, insults, and off-topic sociopolitical commentary. Thank you.
