Hey guys. I got ME2 on PC the other and I've been playing it for about two days or so. The game runs fine and all (bar maybe one or two bugs I've encountered) but that aside when I booted it up today it's started to act strange. The game, no matter where I am, the main menu, the Normandy, everything is moving at half the speed then it should be. I don't mean the framerate or anything but it's just stuck in slow mo. It's more noticable in dialogue when I hear people speak but the animations and lip syncing seems to moving at half the speed. I've tried looking for the console window so I can manually set the speed settings myself but no luck in that either.

Here are my PC specs.
  • Windows XP Media Centre Editon SP3
  • Intel Pentium D 2.80 Ghz (Dual Core)
  • 3 GB ram
  • Radeon Club X1600XT (256MB)
  • SigmaTel Audio
  • Direct X 9.0c
Cheers for any help.

Slow motion usually equals heat build up. How is the ventilation in your case? You can try removing your side panel and point a small house fan inside it to see if your speed picks up while playing. If that is the case, you will need to work on your cooling/airflow.

I'm willing to put my money on a compatibility bug somewhere. There's a feature where when you use a sniper scope, the game slows down to half speed. It seems your game is misinterpreting something, thus causing the slow mo.

Try using this Coalesced.ini. Go to your Mass Effect 2/BioGame/Config/PC/Cooked folder and place the .ini in the .zip in the folder.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YA0A26C5

Please be sure to make a copy of your original Coalesced.ini file first.

To use this, press + on the keypad for double speed, - on the keypad for half speed, and * on the keypad for regular speed.

Thanks lads. I'll try both of these and see if it fixes anything.

Having the same issue. I play for about 15 mins (on my Laptop) an it just slows down like crazy. to the point its no longer playable. Should not be a comp problem.

Windows 7

6GB ram

nvidia Geforce 260 GTX

intel duo core 2.53

Tried out the file you gave me. While it did work, it actually made the game too fast. I've tried re-editing the file so it runs at 1.5 speed instead. Game crashes on start up though regardless of which one I use. Still works fine on the unmodified file though. :S No issues on heat so far.

i had the same problem with ME1. changing the sound-hardware acceleration in the direct x dialogue (turned it down) worked well. worked for some other games i have too.

open your direct x dialogue. go to sound1 & 2. however, i was too quick posting it. it worked perfectly for half an hour when i did that and then it was slow again :/. very annoying.
