Has anyone else run into this extremely frustrating problem?  I've searched here in the forums and also on the "support site" and on google, but haven't found anything related to the issue I'm seeing.

I completed ME2, and then created a new ME2 game by importing my ME2 save as I wanted to complete some of the other achievements.

Now, I want to play it as a different class WITHOUT doing the import...but here's the kicker.

No matter what I have tried, short of deleting all of my saves, it never lets me select a class.  It's continually thinking that I'm wanting to use my old ME2 save to import.

Is this a bug?  Is there something that I'm missing??

P.S.
Please read my post thoroughly before responding...
I'm inquiring as to why I cannot start a new game with a new character after completing the game.  I do NOT want to reuse my completed save for this...

Again, can you please fully read my post before replying?

I'm looking to start a brand new game without doing the new game plus...and it's not letting me do that...which seems quite the bug...

Please read the post and understand what I'm asking.

So it acts as if you're in NG+, while you just want a new game? To be honest, this sound like something BW'll have to patch, seeing as you're on an xbox (read the other thread). I am too, mind you, so we could both be in the **** anyway, if that does anything. What annoys me about consoles is that you can't tweak settings and hotfix things, so we have to wait for the next patch (minimum of a month.) Sorry I can't help, but if you want to try deleting your games, you could try backing them up over usb. You mentioned that forking over for an MU is too much (I agree), so I guess a standard USB just might work.

Maybe this will help people understand what it is that I'm asking:

1. I have already completed the game once by using a non-imported character:
    a. Loaded game in the console.
    b. Selected 'New Game' from the menu
    c. Set appearance, selected background, selected class
    d. Completed the game.
2. I have already completed the game again by using an imported character:
    a. Loaded game in console.
    b. Selected Import ME2 character from menu
    c. Set appearance
    d. Played through game

I now want to do the following and it will NOT let me:
1. Load game in console
2. Select 'New Game' from the menu
3. Select appearance, but everything else is already selected and pulled from the previously imported new game+

Is that clearer?  It's not letting me s start a brand new game without using the imported character and it should

Yep, exactly.

It seems like in a system update they have locked out USB devices (at least any that I own) for memory access.  They never show up in the memory device list.  Even after reformatting them.

Oh well, I'll just delete all the saves and play through again.  Just rather annoying when there's this huge of a bug.

Update: It seems like the best way to work around this (for those of you who haven't completed yet) is to make all of your characters (one of each class) before completing, then utilize switch careers. Kind of lame, but it should work to allow you to piggy back characters through the game...

Update: Argh!!!!

Here's the deal with the 360 version:

After starting a new game, in order for you to be able to select a new class, you must select 'Custom Appearance", then select Default (if you want to use default), and the next screen will let you select everything else...

Wow, talk about not well documented and somewhat illogical....

Wow... that's awkward. So I can't keep my ME1 Shepard's face?

that I'm not sure about...all I know is that default is really default (not sure if it's always the same, or if it's keyed off import). I'll have to try that next.

nope, I checked, default is the normal, blue-eyed Shepard. Though it would be sort-of okay, my Shepard looks vaguely Asian, has handlebars and, for me at least, fits the Paragon choices perfectly. Even if I went Renegade or changed class, it would be cool, but replacing him with a buzz-cut-sporting marine would kill it for me.

So it defaults to the Bioware version...that's kind of sad...especially on the 360 it's kind of a pain having to customize the face.
