The existence of Dragon Age: Origins shoots down your argument. Last time I played, Leliana and Zevran were still bisexual. *shrug*

Its not about wanting gay sex. Its about the fact that they caved into fox spews. THAT is what pisses me off. Fox news should be shut down for good.

Muzyka's response was ridiculous. He didn't even answer the question.

Q: "How come there are lesbians in ME1 but no gay guys in ME2."

M: "Third-person narrative!"

Wait, what? What does that have to do with...what?

I'm certainly not going to be "quelled" by this.

Yeah....as much as I love Bioware, very, VERY lame cop-out.

Very lame.

Again, Bioware has specifically stated that there are no lesbian romances in ME1.

Silly question, as I haven't gotten that far in the game, but is there any reason why Thane couldn't have been bisexual? I remember wondering if he was the m/m love interest when I first saw him... not sure why, perhaps because in the trailers etc he seemed to have a sort of otherworldly calm and thus seems like he'd be very philosophical and blase about gender (ie that he wouldn't give a damn). Of course, that's just off the trailer. >.>

To be perfectly honest I don't think romance options bring much at all to the table in the game. I get sex sells and all that but I play the game for the game, not to get into virtual panties. I think the same idea applies to the strange interest in same-sex romance (or lack of) for the ME series. If the desire for a romance in a video game is that upsetting for you, its time to rethink your priorities.

Why so angry? Why wouldn't you want other players like you to have more enjoyment of the game if it in no way detracted your own enjoyment? No one is saying that anyone has to play a gay Shepard - heck, shoot down every guy from here to the Citadel - only that it would be nice if it were an option. I play straight Shepard mostly, but knowing that my friend is playing a gay Shepard doesn't change my enjoyment/straightness/whatever in the least.

I really don't like the way that Bioware refuses to talk plainly about this, either dodging the question or making absurd claims like there was no f/f romance in ME1. It bothers me and I don't understand their squeamishness. Either say, we didn't do it because of a marketing decision, or we've thought about it and might include a gay squadmate in ME3. No more run-arounds please.

I think hat the most reasonable thing would be to include male human gay squad-mate in ME3 and make him a possible LI. That way there is no retconning of current characters and people who RP'ed maleshep as gay will FINALLY get their due, or at least a little bit of it.

Bioware can tell me the sky is green over and over again, and it still wouldn't make the sky green.

Is Casey Hudson an accredited anthropologist who is well-versed in cultural, societal, and ethnographic definitions of gender, sex, and female identity?  Because I can tell you right now that every single academic in the universe can and will disagree with his definition of "female." And therefore so do I.

I don't care about sex in a video game,  I care about the fact that they would pander to the likes of that pathetic joke of a news organization.  Now I want to see all typles of relationships in ME3 out of principal.  Fox news should not have any effect in any way on entertainment I enjoy.  It is about the principal,  Fox "news" should not be allowed to go on national TV and say crap about stuff they don't even understand.  And it pisses me off even more that anybody much less gaming companies that I enjoy would pander to those short bus conservatives.

Speaking for myself (as a straight female gamer), for me the romance is less about the sex and getting in virtual panties and more about interesting dynamics and interaction between the characters. ME is one of my first Western RPGs (aside from World of Warcraft which is an entirely different beast) and was a big change from JRPGs, where you play as a very set character with very set responses to the people around him (not that that's bad, it's just different). I liked the fact that I could talk to my party and actually grow closer to them as people based on my own input. The romance is a part of that... I really liked how my ME1 Shepard and Liara grew closer, how Liara was charmingly bumbling and it was all sweet and it felt really cool. I was also in favor of a Tali romance not because HAWT QUARIAN SEXXORS but because I loved the chemistry between them, the conversations and the friendly banter. Now I don't know who to go with. :P

But anyway, there's nothing wrong with considering the romance options an important part of the game... some people just enjoy character development and interaction. It would just be nice to have more of that (with both same-sex romance and more potential friendship interaction).

They do indeed. But they don't make any dating sims with Liara, Kaiden, Tali, etc. Part of why we like the romances in ME is because we like the *characters*, and how they interact with each other, and how that interaction can evolve into something more romantic.

I understand, that and it makes perfect sense. But why are there constantly topics about the same issue? It's a minor part of the game, and it seems people are really reluctant to accept that they won't be cater for. Sooner of later people should just be grateful of the choices they have.

I get making your voices heard but this is getting ridicilous. The Liara, Ash, Tali, topic don't really go overboard a smuch as the same sex topics to. It always the same thing, and there are always three and four topics full of blind topics, the usually turns in to a debate of one sexual preferences...Really annoying.

I disagree about it being a minor part of the game. They obviously thought that the romance subplots from ME1 were a well-received enough design element of the first game to include six new different romances for the second, including several interspecies options. It is a minor part of the game in that it doesn't really take up any time, yes, but as part of the dramatic impetus and narrative? I'd argue it's fairly significant.

Fox news didn't win, the majority of male gamers did. Look at the demographic the play video games, it's striaght male gamers. As long as it stays that way then the *** community is just going to have to hope thy get what they want, but if they don't they should at least accept that.

Yet they included six LI's and people are still complaining. It doesn't matter waht they do people will complain. If you add same sex romances the same amount of people will complain, than embrace it. So why go through all the trouble?

If the demographic is that important, then why is there a choice to create a female Shepard, along with all her romance options, at all? 'Cause I can pretty much assure you right now that the female fanbase is but a fraction of the male fanbase.
