I'm also in college, in fact I've been in college for years, and I, again, say that this is not usual. Sorry, but I just don;t believe you at all.

Also going to chime in and say, as a female college student in her senior year, I know of no girls who would act as Kelly does with other women unless they were in a relationship with said women.

I would agree with your observation.

Or,

Six romances, with two out of those six -- one male and one female -- being bisexual options that both male and female Shepards could potentially pursue, much like Liara in the first game.  The remaining four being straight.

There.  In less than a minute I just made everyone happy.

You don't even have to change a lot, if any, of the dialogue: if you'll notice, pretty much all romance dialogue for all romance options are entirely gender-neutral.  Meer and Hale had recorded same-sex romance dialogue for the first game; there's no reason to think they didn't for the second game.

No, now every male gamer who dislikes bi-sexual men can no longer use that character. I'm sure they're glad they were shunned for a veryn small minority. You just can do they. The best choice is to add an only *** male that way you don't alienate the male gamers who wanted to use the bisexual male character as a squadmate.

Are you saying that if gay romances, were in this game, you would be utterly compelled against your will into personally clicking through all the gay dialogue choices?  You just wouldn't be able to help yourself but to turn your Shepard gay if the option was available?

'Cause that sounds like what you're saying.

It's a wonder that most people here haven't created female Shepards and slept with the male squadmates over and over and over again, just by merit of the option being available...

No offence intended here but have you played ME2? Because no doubt you have and you'd probably then witness how ridiculously easy it is to enter into a romance with someone, sometimes by complete accident?

As long as that didn't happen I'd be fine with it but, like I said earlier in the thread, I do NOT want to accidentally fall into a romance with Garrus. Thane, fine, but Garrus? HELL no.

But your Shepard wouldn't be gay. Your Shepard would still be master alien tail-chaser extrodinaire, willing to sleep with anything as long as it had vaguely mammalian boobs. Just because my Shepard would be struggling between his feelings for Liara, his attraction to Tali, and the weird twirly feeling in his gut whenever Thane smiles at him doesn't negate your Shepard or make him gay in any way.

In other words, dialog trees are exactly that... trees. No one is forcing you to take the path down to the romance option!

It's fine as long as they really do fork the options properly like that, however considering how easy it was to pretty much 'fall into' a romance in ME2 I'm honestly wondering if that would be the case.... A single option on the wheel chosen wrongly = I'm chatting up Garrus for a snog.

Yeech....

You do raise a good point, that occasionally the trees are badly designed and you "stumble" into a relationship.

My question to you, though, is why would it be more distressing or "weird" to accidentally stumble into a relationship with Garrus than into a relationship with Jack, or some other female LI that you really didn't want to romance? You still have the same option to shut him down. It's just the same as any other "whoops" relationship in the game.

Oh right but that's in exchange for another party member so it's kinda not the same.

I thought you got an ADDITIONAL squad member to replace Legion or something.

Because falling into a romance with Jack doesn't make my skin do the cha-cha-cha, even if I am counting my every breath in my head.

And I don't want to see Garrus sad :( - nor do I want my character making anything close to homosexual/bisexual remarks because that takes him completely out of character.

As long as they work at really forking the conversation wheel so you really need to plug away at each romance then fine, but otherwise I'm not so sure I'd be ok with it....

The difference is that those people are prejudiced, which is an even smaller minority(especially for Bioware.)

That's like not having Jacob be a character because it closes off options to people who hate black people.

That's what I've been asking you. So what it they carried things over?

Although comparing a charater to a sexual orientation makes no sense.

It does when you're saying things, more specifically the same-sex romance, should not have been carried over.

And Liara.Isn't.A.Women.

Actually she is one. Not a human one, but one nonetheless.

If an option offends you then maybe you need to re-examine what upsets you. If a bisexual or gay character makes you so upset you will avoid using him/her then you have a problem. The more anti-gay rants I hear the more I wonder if society is truly as enlightened as we think. Honestly is it so much to ask for 1 in 3 to be bisexual?

Wait, what? Why on earth would people stop using a character just because they happen to like guys as well or just don't give a damn about gender? Does Garrus liking men suddenly mean he can't shoot straight, or isn't a badass? And if the answer is no, and it's just a case of, "I can't like a bisexual character," then... isn't that a prejudice that needs to be confronted?

If the option is to trade the tolerant minority for the intolerant minority, then yes I think Bioware should side with the former.

And yes I said "minority" to describe both groups because, again, I think you're vastly and almost comically overestimating the impact of those people whose game experiences would evidently be ruined because of two bisexual characters in their games.  Especially considering that Liara, Samara/Morinth, and Kelly are all in this game anyway...

Oh wait, I forget that you don't consider Asari women, because Casey Hudson said so.

Really? I literally FELL into it with Jack. All I was doing was being nice to her trying to comfort her a bit about the **** she went through at the Cerberus base and then all of a sudden she's "thinking" about us.

Wait...what?

And if I stop the romance there all I get is "**** OFF!"

Wait...what?

As long as it really is obvious and initiated, preferably a third or fourth stage down the particular romance fork, then it's fine. If I accidentally get there's I'll just stop, reload my save and say "I'm a ma-y-an" in the mirror while flexing my biceps to get over the trauma.
