Usually people don't respond unless you slap them across the face with sound reasoning.

If they allow gay relationships then who do they make for it? I don't want some queer-o crew member chasing my Shep :( No offense, but he doesn't swing that way and if some dude makes a pass at him then it's pretty obvious who's going to be left sacrificing themselves to blow up the reaper ship . . .

Wait, what? Why on earth would you space someone who had feelings for you, even if you didn't return them? Would you space an "unattractive" girl if she confessed her feelings? Surely you wouldn't be so mean to her, so why be mean to a guy who feels the same way?

No one's demanding you swing any way you don't want, but you can still be friends with someone without wanting to do them or returning their feelings.

I have to agree - that elf dude in Dragon Age was bi and I wasn't down with that, so I politely refused - bastard had the nerve to cut 25 points of my influence though!

Anywho, I'd personally be fine with a gay or bi male on the crew, so long as we had a returning an asari choice onboard too, heh.

I think if they added same sex romances, they would have to have gay/lesbian characters. The whole "(man)****s are bisexual" thing in Dragon Age was a bit off putting. If you can have characters who are necessarily straight, then it should work the other way as well.

But hey, if they're insistent on Shepard being straight... so be it I guess.

Yeah, I'm not what you'd call the fine figure of a man neither. Though I'm trying to lose some of the weight again.

So I should be compelled to stand against alll wrongs and go out fo my way to always the defend the postivie outlook on everything. This is supoosed to be a ME2 forum. I shouldn't be judged based on a converstaion about a game b/c that's very hypocritical. If someone is getting murdered and you don't prevent it, you're not a murderer.

Weeeelll that depends on the laws where you live.  In many parts of the US, you can be nailed as an accessory to murder if you were in a position to help and didn't do anything.

DeathCultArm wrote...

But alas I should've expected bias. It's easier to call someone a racist then it to to try an understand the neutral side they're taking.

"Neutral side"?  Sir, you just spent upwards of five or six hours obsessively following and debating the topic in a thread you could just as easily have ignored.  It's obvious you care one way or another, we're long past "neutral."

Much like in ME, the middle ground is a overrated and gets people nothing. :innocent: You're either for it or against it.  You either like it or not.  Now sure, there's a "don't care" option...and yet, as we can tell by half a day's worth of posts, you didn't choose that option either.

Of course there's bias.  You're talking about people singled out and specifically excluded because of their sexual orientation.  Maybe it's not that important to you that you can just conveniently choose to be unbiased about it, but for a lot of people it is a topic that they have to deal with every moment of every day, and not something they can just log off from when they're done forum sperging.

So yeah, you probably should have expected bias.

Which doesn't mean that bias is necessarily irrational.  Dismissing a point of view simply due to it being biased can be problematic because, at the end of the day, everyone is biased.  Even you.

@OP:

I could agree with the reasoning in theory, but considering Liara, Sha'ira, Kelly and the cut stuff with Kaidan and Ashley, not to mention the often huge personality differences between Paragon and Renegade choices, it's nothing but a huge pile of horsecrap the size of Olympus Mons.

You know, BioWare, I can grudgingly live with you taking a step or two backward instead of forward in ME2 (likely to keep the Murdoch Empire from bashing your "mainstream" series) and most likely in TOR as well ('cause the gay in Star Wars MMO = soccer mom hysteria = PR nightmare for LucasArts) despite it kind of feeling like betraying my trust in you, but lame fake excuses like the one above actually make me angry to put it lightly.

Makes sense. That's why Shepard has a voice and a name and The Gray Warden doesn't.

The only thing ME lacks dialog-wise compared to DA is nuances.

The path isn't narrower, it's just built with broader stones.

It is a little insulting though this narrative crap. This isn't a shooter or an adventurer. Shepard is not pre-defined past a certain point. They gave us options for a reason and now all of a sudden it isn't like DA:O even though they are extremely similar in the options they offer?

Thank you! This is exactly what I've been saying. I know he had to B.S. the answer to the question, but to do it like that? It makes me sick.

I'd rather him just say, "We at Bioware think homosexuality is a sin." At least that makes some degree of (warped) sense!

Pretty much every other Bioware game has had some form of ******/bisexual romance option.  Because they don't add it in ONE game suddenly they're homophobes?

Get over yourself.

Not what I said, moron. I said I'd be more okay with that than this tripe.

Keep reading that line over and over, EJACK. Because after reading your comments that Bioware was "spitting in the face" of fans, or that "I'd rather him just say, "We at Bioware think homosexuality is a sin." At least that makes some degree of (warped) sense!" I doubt anyone can take you seriously at this point.

But yeah, as far as the OP, having DLC same-sex romance works for me.

I think it's pretty obvious that EA or BW themselves pulled the plug for gay romance options because of this: http://www.gamepolit...bian-love-scene (being pars pro toto for all the nonsense they have to go through everytime they put in homoerotics, even in the vaguest sense of the word.)

How's it lesbian? Asari are "monosexual", so at best it's bi-sexual, but for both femshep AND maleshep since each Asari is really both genders.

Incorrect. While it is true Asari are monosexual, in this case all female, that does not mean that the FemShep-Liara relationship was not a lesbian one. They are both females, id est it is a female-female relationship - a lesbian relationship. As for the Asari being both genders, no, that is not correct as biological sex and gender are different things.

Just a note to those insisting that Asari don't count due to being monogendered as female, just consider this:
Would a completely heterosexual woman, no attraction to women, be attracted to an asari? Would a homosexual man?
Simply put, it's a pretty transparent dodge to claim that a femshep with Liara isn't in a lesbian relationship. It would bear weight if Asari were truly androgynous in appearance and behavior, but this is clearly not the case.

@Erjak

what the hell? I was respectful in stating my opinion. No need to throw insults. This is why you can't have rational discussions. It almost always turns to an elementary school insult contest. And you want people to listen to your points when you insult them if they disagree? No wonder nobody wants to listen or respect your opinion/argument.

On the other hand,

I don't understand why people are upset about Ray being coy. What he said is corporate for "I don't want to talk about it right now." Is everyone that unfamiliar with big wigs being coy about things in their product? He didn't want to tip his hand, don't burn him at the stake for it.
