Maybe we will see m/m options in later Mass Effect games, when the inclusion of male homosexual relationships in their video games don't pose as much of a threat to their profits. Until then, they ought to be criticized. Or at least until they admit they're specifically trying not to scare away the Gears of War crowd.

Don't make me laugh.

They should be criticized because they're not catering to your tastes or a small crowd's tastes? Please do everyone a favor and get over yourself.

I wouldn't criticize them for coming out and saying they aren't interested in making a gay character. I'd criticize them for pandering and appeasement to further their profits. And that's exactly what I felt when reading that excerpt.

A Tali fan I see.

Your inevitable reaction to her not being a squaddie in ME3 will be interesting to see in light of the quoted post...

How does same sex romance have anything to do with the squad choices that will be in the game?

And just for argument's sake: them removing something that's been in both games would call for much more critisizing then them not adding something that hasn't been in either of the two games.

Uh, no. They should be criticized for compromising themselves to win over all the console kiddies out there. If I didn't say it outright, I at least implied it.

It would be different if BioWare didn't already have many games that included male homosexual relationships.

Well, it wouldn't serve them well to say that they don't want it in their game. At that point, people would be claiming the ME team are a bunch of homphobes or something equally sensationalized. They're in a no-win situation with their statements and it's a completely unfair position to put them in. With the past two game's options I think they've madeit clear how they want it, and fans critisizing them for it is uncalled for.

Mass Effect 1 and 2 didn't have it, so why would they got through the trouble to suddenly adding it in ME3? Because other games have it? Did Shepard suddenly realize his true sexuality while saving the Universe?

If it was in the first game I'd have absolutely no problem. But people asking them to change character dynamics in the final game of the trilogy is just stupid.

Just wait for the next Mass Effect series of games after this one - or go play Dragon Age if it's truly that important to you.

Garrus and Tali. If no one criticises or asks it might not happen. The two I mentioned were not supposed to be love interest but enough people complained and they put them in. Bioware actually listens to their fans, so I think criticizing is totally called for, because bioware actually gives a rats about what people want in their game.

I think my biggest problem with this notion is that most of the people wanting this aren't even gay or lesbian. If they were, I could totally see their point. But more than likely, half the people wanting such things are just guys who want to see some "hotorZ lez action". It's just as dumb as the hordes of people saying they play Femshep because, "It's better to look at"

A Tali romance was added for ME2, when there was no indication that either Shep or the chicken legged alien life form were attracted to each other. I don't see you or any other Tali fan complaining about that. It was added because of fan interest.

Why are you opposed to people who want similar options that Tali fans were given. Especially since Tali isn't even human?

Why is xenophilia with chicken legged aliens, lizardmen, and bird raptors with mandibles ok, but consensual human same sex relations are not?

I can play an elf in Dragon Age, how come my shepard can't be an Elf? Or a dwarf! I want my shepard to be a gay Dwarf cause he can be Dragon Age. It made sense for that game and character so of course it makes sense for this character!

So?  Who cares why people want f/f or m/m...they want it.  No worse than people's reason's for wanting to romance the girl in the suit, or the velociraptor from ME1.

EA isn't against same-sex relations, try googling "The Sims"

Because sexual orientation is something people are born with. Who you end up loving/attracted to is not.

Oh my, that came out pretty simple. Oh, that's right, it's because it is.

Read that reply again; what does he say? Nothing. It's press talk, designed to sound like an answer without actually being one. If BioWare really did not want to allow same sex romances in the Mass Effect games, then they wouldn't have had Liara or Kelly.

At no point in Mass Effect 1 and 2 does ManShep ever say, "Sorry, I'm not into guys." It wouldn't be out of place to include male homosexual relationships in the third game. Garrus and Tali weren't LIs in the first game, after all. Isn't it a little out of place for Garrus and Tali to be LIs in Mass Effect 2? No.

Well, Bioware removed her plot armor. And she can die in several ways during the suicide mission. Boom! Headshot... that's how she checked out in my last game.

The point being, there's good cause to hope Tali fans have been granted all the fanservice they'll get. And the rest of us will get some in ME3, in turn.

This too. Garrus and Tali were not romancable in BioWare's plans for the Mass Effect games; but they changed that for the fans. Why is what we want so much more horrid than what they wanted?

Kudos Brahlis! It's simple, Shepard is not gay. That's just the way it is. Wait for the Dragon Age expansion, or The Old Republic, or probably any other game to come out in the future from Bioware and make a gay character there. This one is straight ... sorry, just is.

Because a few people want something, it should totally be implemented. I want reapers to be giant flying balloons, who's one weakness if peanut butter covered pants. Will that make it happen?

I have no issue with the entire M/M and F/F thing, but I've seen people crying their eyes out saying that Bioware are homophobe and such. Crying and insulting the company won't make their opinions change, even if they want it.

The Sims is not a game aimed at fans of multiplayer shooting games in which little kids scream over microphones derogatory terms for homosexuals.

Not true. Although I'm sure some breeders want it for those reasons, there are a lot of people who want it because they want to see themselves represented. I always create a character to look similiar to me I don't know about you. I create other kinds sometimes, but I know for fact there are a lot of gay people who want this option.  Its hard to create a game that is able to represent everyone, but I think the main problem people have is that they went halfway and represented the lesbian community (somewhat) but have altogether avoided gay male community and use excuses that its just not his character. My thought is that Shep hasn't come across a gay male squad mate yet and hopefully we get one in 3.

Isn't Shepard supposed to be who we make him? So if that's not actually the case, then everyone who doesn't play the default Shepard as a Renegade is playing the game wrong then.

I believe I saw a mention that Tali was supposed to be a romance in ME1, but was removed when they thought that she wasn't going to get much attention.
