I can answer that quite easily, Liara is an easy out for hetero men that play a woman in ME1 and want to romance a female form, it just happens she works for lesbians as well. I am not making a statement of it being right or wrong but the writing on the wall is clear.

Normal? No. It's a genetic mutation, so technically it's natural, but it's still not normal.

And I wasn't talking about the moron relating it to beastiality. That's going way over the line. I'm talking about how most people that are for same-sex romance in ME typically call people against it a bunch of homophobes, which is untrue.

It is a theory but like all of the theories about the occurrence of homosexuality there is no conclusive evidence to support it. There are a number of theories that include it is a mechanism to control group populations or is related to hormonal levels recived whilst a fetus. We actually have no clue about why homosexuality occurs and the only thing we do know for certain is that it does occur. We do know that homosexuality does occur within mammals and aves that live in pair bonds or in social groups and we know this because it has been observed. With the exception of orangutans who do not live in pair bonds or within social groups (and there are so few of them around to observe) homosexual coupling has been observed in all the other hominidaes. Not being considered "normal" within a context of a given society is not the same thing as not being biologically "normal", One is dicated by a society, the other dictated by biology and as far as I am concerned in the end biology is the absolute authority.

I do not know the man but from watching video internviews with Dr. Muzyka he does appear to be a genuine and very nice man. Of course that could the Canadian medical doctor manner and tone but I haven't seen nor read anything to indicate otherwise. I do agree that this does sound very diplomatic way of saying "male same sex relationships are not going to happen in Mass Effect". It does seem rather odd that they would include romaces with drells, turians, and quarians (which imo is a bit of a stretch and highly unlikely) and not include a romance option that does occur within the human species.  It seems rather contradictory to say that a game that is marketed as being about choices and your story really isn't. It is their game so they can do what they wish but I do wish they would go back to being silent on the matter instead of offering up these excuses.

As for a creating a new character for a gay romance option, that would be even worse. It would only put a F/F or a M/M option in the game (probably a F/F).

You can't understand how completely changing a character's dyanimcs just to shut up a small vocal group isn't a travesty, then I don't know what to tell you.

Some of these arguments are so stupid it's almost unbelievable.

And I garuntee you that more than half of the people wanting same-sex stuff aren't even homosexual themselves, which makes it even worse. Almost as bad as the people that play FemShep for the pure reason that it's "better to look at.".

Because, in our SOCIETY, gay relations (Mainly M/M), are frowned upon. Like I said earlier: Blame our parents/grandparents. They rule our politics, which in turn, affects our society.

I could care less about having the options in the game. It's just that they AREN'T.

You are nitpicking I am not calling the same sex relationships silly i am calling making a DLC that adds no new art assets, or content and adds what 5-6 minutes of dialog to a current character silly.  Make a new character or characters new art assets, environments, story, and stuff like that and everyone wins.

Seems like you are just looking for a fight.

If you bring Kelly into this, you must remember: She is a FLING. Not a ROMANCE.

Re: the Kelly thing... say that you're right, it's a fling and not a romance. Under that rationale, I think there should be the option for male Shepard to have a FLING and not a romance with a male member of the crew. There'd be nothing wrong with that, right? It would be EXACTLY the same thing as female Shepard and Kelly having a fling. And again, it would satisfy a great many people while not annoying people who wouldn't want an m/m scene (because hey, you can just not flirt with him ;-))

Thats not true. We see a covered up female turian in side quest. And The bachelor party at the bar on ilium has a turian that states. "Well you dont see many turian women around here do you?"

You simply have to look at the culture and understand why we never see male or females of each race. Asari are unisex and shape themselves to whatever they are mating with. Krogans keep their female in seclusion on tuchanka (I have a feeling i wouldnt want to be around krogan females all that much too). Drell are still unexplained. And the reason we havnt seen female turian is unexplained as well.

I don't quite understand why this is such a big deal.

BioWare doesn't want to write a m/m romance. So why is there all this fussing over it? Is it just because there can be f/f romances? I don't get it.

the fuss is about inclusion, bioware cant claim to make a character of your making if you cant make disissions in order to represent yourself, they did say u can mold shepard to your liking, if you cant do that then its a lie

That's it? I know this is a role-playing game but I think it's understandable that certain role-playing options won't be avaliable. I understand this, and I accept it. If BioWare doesn't want to make that an option, I'm not going to deamnd it from them. They would probably just shoehorn it in to please the fans. I'd rather them make no m/m subplot then a bad one.

I'm not trying to suggest that it's wrong to make suggestions. Mass Effect 2 is a lot better than the first becuase of these suggestions. But if BioWare is vocal about their stance on this issue, then I think it might be in everyone's best interest to let it go.

TALI. GARRUS.

You are right about one thing, I'm not a homosexual. Doesn't mean I don't want the content, if not for myself than for others who would play it. I will admit, I will probably not play a M/M romance in Mass Effect; I don't like the male voice actor (no offense to Mr. Meer). But I would want it included for everyone would like to play it.

Seriously, what's the big deal?  So your male Shepard can't be gay, it really not worth all the griping.

It's just odd limitation to make when they allow Shepard to be of any (human) race and gender. To use your own argument -- why is Shepard's sexual orientation such a big deal that it's taken out of the player's hands?

Because it's not something arbitrary like changing the color of his skin or model. It's about having to add in all the extra content to include the same-sex romance.

Like I said, if they add in new squad mates to accomidate that, then fine whatever. But if they change current squadmates to accomidate it, then it's a travesty.

Exactly I agree, I think it would be ridiculous to make one of the current characters gay in the third.  But I'm all for a new character that is gay.

Hell yea, that would work fine for me. I wouldn't care. But, there isn't one. You don't have a male councilor(sp?).

That was the whole point behind Kelly. She was your "secretary" that you could have a fling with. It's kind of a common fantasy amongst us. Unless I'm living in a different type of world.

Why does it make them homophobic or prejudice? It doesn't. How about they just think it cheapens the experience to magically have someone flip their orientation or magically have them become bisexual just because there's a group of people whining.

If they want to add it, then create a new squadmate. Don't change established characters for it; that's ridiculous.

I still think that a major impetus for the female same sex romances/flings is that for men it is more acceptable/desirable than a male same sex relationship. It sucks, but I think that might be part of the issue.

It's a rather dumb reason but the signs are there.

You're playing the "role" of 'John' Shepard in the RPG. Which means that if they had given Shepard the ideals of being a homosexual/bisexual, you would be given that chance to participate in same-sex romance. Too bad for you though, because 'John' Shepard doesn't have those ideals, and you're suppose to be playing his "role".

If you want it THAT badly, go out and make your own game, implement the features that suit YOUR tastes, and stop your b*tchin. Be happy that BioWare is able to make such an amazing game for you to play, and get over your silly, STUPID, little problems. It's getting to be ridiculous.

your suppose to be able to mold "john" shepard to your liking, you are playing his role (beating collectors) no matter what but what u do on the way is what molds you meaning that u should have freedom with your sexual orientation, and why is it that "jane" shepard can and "john" shepard cant?Image IPB

yur right the asari are umm... both but why do u think bioware chose to have them look the way they did, because some ugly looking alien thing would not be attractive so them give them human features so the player would treat them as such, like wise they give the asari humane female traits so that the player will treat them as such

If they didn't do that, they would have failed with their chances at making the game that much better. Sorry bro, but look at our society today. Do you think we would like to see our Shepard get in bed with some ugly alien that doesn't look any bit appeasing? I don't think so.

If you want to blame anyone, blame our parents and grandparents. They dominate our politics, which makes it hard for our views to be seen like we would appreciate to happen.

Shepard, male OR female, isn't gay, get over it.

what im saying is they wouldnt give the asari women like features unless they wanted you to treat them like a WOMAN if they didnt have a sex why not make them look like men, why? maybe you can answer that

I think it was a design thing really think about it besides Humans & Quarians you don't see females of any other race.  I believe Asari are all female to balence this out so it wasn't so male dominated.

TALI. GARRUS.

So a female squad-mate can't find develop for your male character? And your male squadmate can't develop feelings for your female character? Even when inter-species relationships have been shown in Mass Effect already outside of your crew?

Once again: LOL @ your argument.

Sexual orientation and feelings for a crew member are not the same thing. If you can't comprehend that, then I don't know what to tell you.
