Ive recently put in a ticket regarding obtaining the Star metal for Starfang.

After my first two play throughs i got the metal both times, but after that, the encounter stopped showing up.

i have travelled between denerim, wilds, and westcliff and about every location in the game for hours. Ive played through every encounter made for the game (ive come to the point where the only encounter i get is the traveling dwarf.)

i put in a ticket about this bug, and they tell me to ask online for tactics (im obviously a fool).

Ive tried erasing the DLC, and downloaded it fresh, nothing happened. ive deleted system cache, nothing happens.
The encounter wont trigger on any new character i build ( ive tried with 6 different PC's).

What does it take to get my money's worth ? i mean sadly enough the DLC for DA:O is very lacking in content, especially since theyre demanding so much points to get them. At the very least, i expect the content to be functioning.

Ive played alot of games and i think this is the first time ive had any problems at all with DLC. so it cant be that hard.

So there it is, ive asked on forums. fire away with answers ;)

I've had a couple play throughs when I didn't get the encounter. I just assumed it was some kind of rare encounter. I've been reading a few posts with encounters I've never had in my 6 play throughs! I guess there's one where you get some axe and the wiki even says it's an extremely rare encounter. Just keeps sucking me in to play more and more lol.

Yeah, it is a very rare random encounter. There is never any guarantee that you will get it.

I wouldent say very rare I make it my job to get it before I do any of the main quest lines

it can just take a while (I travel between redcliff and honnleath since the distance is short and you can just go back and forth ove rand over again)

nothing is so rare you shuffle through every encounter the game has to offer, then go on for 2 hours with constant traveling, and it still doesnt show up.

I have been getting nothing but the travelling dwarf for ages (think my last 30 encounters consisted on the dwarf alone, seeing as i aparently played through all the other encounters).

Anyhow, if you have this "bug" and think its just because its rare (it isnt). You wont get any help from the developers. Just go to your xbox HDD, delete the DLC, download it fresh again. When you run the game again, there should be an update for the game from xbox live.

I did this a couple of times, and then when i tried playing again, i got the encounter on the second travel.

i will retry with the numerous other characters ive made and had problems with, and see what happens now.

i also have a problem with quest updating after you kill a boss. i can stand around for ages the longer i stay in the game. and the boss doesnt get searchable for items until like 3 minutes after you killed him. i found out that you can run out of range from the boss, then go back and it will have the aura around him indicating items.

It is said in another thread that this usually only happens when you haven't started a major quest. Finish Lothering and explore. The event is much more frequent in the beginning for some reason.

after i deleted the Wardens Keep DLC and reinstalled, the starmetal has been easy obtained on all my characters. luckily.

still have the problem that makes me shut down the game and restart it so i wont be running back and forth to pick up items from mobs i killed 5 minutes ago.

I got the metal, but then ended up reloading and playing from an earlier save. However, when I spoke to the smith, apparently I had the metal in my inventory, even though I hadn't played from the save where I picked it up. Strange.

Well, some things obviously are, but not this encounter. at some point there was impossible to get it on any new character that didnt allready have it. Then i reinstalled and got it in 2-8 travels on 6! characters.

Ive played FFXI alot, so i know all about insane droprates. farm for 22 hours to get a lvl 25 item anyone? This is singleplayer. it aint supposed to take an entire evening doing one thing (about 5-6 hours) and not get an item.

It sure would increase the gametime to do it, but lets face it, people would be pissed.
