I apologize if this has been addressed before. All I could fine was about slow in-game load times.

My Dragon Age takes FOREVER to start up when I open it. Like approximately 5 minutes. About 2 minutes showing me the splash screen, then 3 minutes showing me the Vista loading circle animation on a black screen, and then it proceeds to the opening movie clips.

Actually loading stuff in game seems totally fine. Ie. it takes about 10 seconds to actually load and put me into the game after I get to the main menu.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Edit to add some computer specs, if needed:

Vista x64 Ultimate
i7 920
Radeon 4870x2
6GB RAM

hi guys, im currently having the same problem.

I stopped playing for a few weeks then resumed play just 2 days ago and this problem popped up.

My game takes more than 10 minutes to finish playing the intro animation and actually loading the splash screen! anyone else encountered this before?

Vista 32 bit

2GB Ram

GeForce 9600M GS

I have got the same problem as spindrjr, but I run on a much older system, with windows XP and single core processor, so I know that's not the problem.

It's not about the CPU heat it's just a weird bug.

The DAOriginsLauncher proces has started, but it takes a very long time to actually get the launcher started. After that has occured, there are no further problems at all.

I have a Radeon HD 4850 video card for Windows7 64-bit.

Dragon Age deadlocked all input for a solid 10-20 seconds to bring up the game, or when I quit that game. Same when I try to alt tab out. This was extremely frustrating and took quite a while to track down.

I realized I upgraded the drivers to 10-3 trying to fix other games (Unreal Engine 3 games specifically). When I reverted the drivers back to 9-12, the problem went away. I highly suggest doing this, I'm crossing my fingers for everyone else with this problem.

Best way to troubleshoot is to make a complete report in a NEW post... see:

... folks will be more apt to help with more information at hand.

Thanks,
