So what were your guys opinion of the upgrade system for ME2?

I didn't care for it too much just because you lose everything you buy when you start the game over. Not to mention the planet scan can become tedious. I would of prefered some kind of economy to buy all your upgrades. Kind of like Fable II or Assassins Creed II. Also being able to keep your upgrades after a playthrough would be nice. That's just my opinion though. What do you guys think?

The only real problem I had with it was having to scan planets to aquire recources. Loosing the upgrades after a playthrough isn't that much of a problem for me as you get a lot of starting recourses with the 'Long Service' achievements combined with the bonus of importing a ME1 save.

I haven't played either Fable 2 or Assassin's Creed 2, how did they do it?

You haven't played either?! Oh my friend, you don't know what you are missing.

In Fable II you could buy businesses and have them make money for you. In Assassin's Creed II, you could purchase upgrades for your town and make a cut from what comes in. I was thinking just use money to buy your upgrades instead of just using resources. Planet scan seems more like a choir than fun.

With Fable, I do know. Fable 1 already was a disapointment for me and I watched someone play Fable 2 for a couple of hours and the story was just awfull. I will say it has one of the most robust farting simulation ever in a videogame, that's worth something.
I will probably pick up Assasin's Creed 2 once the price has gone down, from what I've heard it's pretty much 'previous game minus all the stuff I didn't like'.

Anyway enough of that. Yeah, buying upgrades would have worked for me. Though, what I would have prefered is having them be rewards for doing sidemissions.

I love it. IMO much much more fun than ME1 system. Am I the only one that enjoys scanning?

ME1 didn't really have upgrade system, unless you're counting buying better equipment.
And if you're referring to the Mako; having to go mountaineering with it was somewhat annoying, I'll admit that. But at least you were doing something.

I'm curious, can you explain to me what it is you enjoy about the scanning? Because, I was just utterly bored with it.

Scanning on the PC is cake, and somewhat fun. But I do feel for Xbox players, I've seen my cousin play the Xbox version and scanning is painfully slow and monotous. Bioware need to throw console players a bone there, it should definately be much faster.

I enjoy the scanning system, well designed interesting. But like other have said, it is way to slow on the Xbox 360, and the brings it down alot.

The speed it should be at is the same speed as when your not holding the L trigger, after you upgrade of course. The pre-upgrade speed should then be the current upgrade speed now.

Wish I was more simple minded then. I think I'm going to start looking into the sun from now on. That might dumb me down... no offense. lol
