I know I have. I played some decent RPG's since and a few MMO's, but nothing can compare to the Bioware Fantasy RPG. I play sports games. I play shooters. There really isn't a category of game I haven't checked out, on all platforms.
Fantasy RPG is still my favorite. Specifically, single player(multi-player would rock as well) RPG. There's no one in the business that does it like Bioware. That's just the facts.
Neverwinter Nights was good. I missed the ability to control and level up a whole party. The Baldur's Gate games rocked. I have a feeling this is going to leave all of those games in the dust.
I'm calling it right now. Dragon Age is going to be the best RPG in the history of video games.
I can't wait.
Has anyone else been waiting for this game since the end of the Baldur's Gate series?

Well, I suggest you don't make plans from November the 3rd to well into 2010. Bioware Fantasy RPG's are like crack without side effects.Arttis wrote...

No, I did not wait, as I am a heavy rpg gamer. Waiting 10 years or so would have been too much for me.
Did a game beat BG2 in my heart since? Probably no.
NWN was great, especially with both extensions, making us able to build almost any character we could think off. And that was really brilliant. But somehow, NWN did not hold an as good RP value as BG did - at least for me
I could review all the RPGs I have played since, but there would be no added value doing so.
One thing is sure: BG2 and Fallout 2 are the only RPGs I enjoy playing again, even years after its release.

Literally waiting for THIS game all those years, no.
Waiting for something like it, definitely. This looks like the first one to actually compete with BG2 in my books. Sadly i'm not too fond of any of the characters (except Oghren!) yet, but they might grow on me

Yes, i am one of those who had hoped bioware should abandoned nwn series and do BG3 or something and now we are here with DAO, it´s little of rpg x-mas for me.

I loved the NWN games. Bioware never compared NWN to BG. I think this game is going to blow the doors off of every RPG ever made, and I'm positive of it.

No, and quite frankly I'm getting a little sick of all the people talking about Baldurs Gate like it was the Holy Grail. It actually makes me feel ashamed to be a fan of the series.
It was good for it's time, but can we please move on.

Not exactly "wait", more like "hope", but yeah, I guess.
I play basically everything but sports games (the occasional odd fantasy sports game notwithstanding) and WW2 games (because I've been bored of them even before the general gaming press), but I can't remember ever looking forward as giddily to any other game.
Edit: A new proper Wing Commander/X-Wing/FreeSpace would probably rival that sentiment, though. Damn, I'm starved when it comes to that genre.

I was hoping for something good and big like BG saga was but not a copy. Since BG many good RPG's were around and what I actually hope for is that Bioware have used and improoved the good ideas from all of their previous games in making of DA, not just BG but also NWN and KotOR-like games that came after.
Someone says that this will be the greatest RPG ever but I can not agree on this before playing it. If it turns out better then some more recent hits (like Fallout 3 and The Witcher for example) it will be great for RPG players as most developers will probably try to improve their games more and be better then the competition.

BG was the first rpg that i ever played and it left quite an impact on me. It has certainly set the bar high and every other rpg, however good, cant hold a candle(keep) to it. I am trying not to let the glory of that series taint my already high hopes for DA:O, that however is not working. The whole BG series is king of the hill right now for me and hopefuly dragon age will knock it down a peg or two.

I think it just feels like that long.
But to be honest, life hasn't been all that empty since BG2 (which incidentally I didn't finish). I played NWN co-op with friends and loved it. I played NWN2 for a while (co-op with my wife) but didn't really find it anywhere near as satisfying, and gave it up. I played Mass Effect and finished it. I played Fable II a couple of times. I've kept busy, in other words.

While there have been some really good games to come out - I do not think any game in my mind is quite at the BG2 lvl in how satisfied I was playing it. In that sense, yes I have been waiting since BG2 for a game to come out that leaves me with that same feeling of satisfaction - is DA that game - I hope so.

Been waiting since Jade Empire was in near end production... I remember was bummed out for Bioware going console but they released news on a secretive title that's gonna be pc exclusive. Later that year (2002) Bioware kindda anounced they were making a game for PC and E3 confirmed the title to be Dragon Age and nothing else...
Haven't been exactly been waiting since BGII, but have definitely been waiting ever since 2002, just because of the title of the game hinted sword&magic.

I've been waiting since Baldur's Gate... NWN was pretty good i agree, but i miss having more than one person travel around with you. I really enjoyed when the NPCs would have some banter with eachother and even clash and fight at times.
Over the past years, i've always found myself going back and playing BG, nothing has even come close to it in terms of depth and story.

It's not like I've been sitting in a cave waiting for a signal that the Spiritual Successor to Baldurs Gate had arrived. I'm still a game junky. However, on the scale of Fantasy RPG's there's Bioware sitting on top and a huge gap down to the others.
This game is going to rule the world.

While, yes, I've been waiting for a new RPG with an actual party that requires some thinking to win fights, I've been somewhat pleased with efforts towards that in the more recent years. Storm of Zehir for NWN2 was a great example of how it could be done, but just like Baldur's Gate, it was a poorly translated D&D-based game.
So, yes, can we please move on from the Baldur's Gate talk? Seeing 3-4 new topics with "Baldur's Gate" in the title while perusing a forum designed for an entirely new IP is a bit jarring.

but of course I have been waiting !!!
I've been waiting for a new "classic" someyhing that could engrave a new mark on history for years to come.
That is what the Baldur's Gate series was.
In the end the issue is simple: rpgs till now were good (NWN, Oblivion, Fable ecc), but there wasn't a real milestone like Baldur's Gate or even better Planescape:Torment(the best ever imo).

I've been waiting for something to be as enjoyable for me as BG2 was, yes. I'm hoping Dragon Age will be that game, otherwise I'll be wishing I pre-ordered Mass Effect 2 instead, lol.

Pretty much yeah. I liked JE and ME but I didn't love them at all. I've been following and admiring DAO since it was first announced, there's no way I won't adore it, it just can't be. If it suck then I'll seriously kill myself. You hear me BioWare?!

I have been longing for an RPG as epic as Baldurs Gate was for me. Well, I did enjoy others like Planescape Torment and the Icewind Dales, and Neverwinter Nights was good enough... but other than that nothing has satisfied me. I have really high hopes for this game.
