I loved JE and the potential it had. Plus, Nathan Fillion and same-sex sexytimes. Buuut, it didn't quite hit all the epic buttons that I wanted pressed. Not after playing BG2. So yes, I have been waiting for something since BG2 that will fill a void in my wretched soul. With as much blood, sweat, tears, and posts I have done for Dragon Age, it better be everything I imagined. ;(
Has anyone else been waiting for this game since the end of the Baldur's Gate series?

Baldurs Gate is the actual Holy Grail..you figured out the secret.Spaghetti_Ninja wrote...
No, and quite frankly I'm getting a little sick of all the people talking about Baldurs Gate like it was the Holy Grail. It actually makes me feel ashamed to be a fan of the series.
It was good for it's time, but can we please move on.
Yes, I have waitd for a game of it's type for a long time....there have been other good games, fun games..but nothing like what BG/BG2 were to me..so this has been a long time coming.
I relate it to like...my football passion for the Dallas Cowboys. We had our BG, BG2 in the 90's...so now I'm just waiting for their Dragon Age...haha. (To win a freaking playoff game..or SB)

All these old school cats on these threads may know what I'm talking about when I say Bard's Tale, but Bard's Tale was probably the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate: minus the incredible story, the consequence system, decent graphics, and the countless other bells and whistles that come with a Bioware Fantasy RPG.
But yes, there hasn't been anything on this scale since the Baldur's Gate series ended, and it's about damn time. Sorry about the damn, but you have to be 18 to play this anyways.

I'm calling it right now. Dragon Age is going to be the best RPG in the history of video games.
No.

Honestly I think DA will be better than the BG series (blasphamy yes I know) for the simple fact that its not tied to the D&D license and Bioware need not answer to TSR/Wizards/Hasbro when it comes to content and mature themes.
In other words, pretty much its the RPG that I've been longing to play since first geting into the whole genre a good 15+ years ago. At least I hope that turns out to be the case.

It is really too bad my Baldur's Gate does not work properly with Windows Vista....
I have tried so many times to revisit that gem since I first played it in '98. BTW, we think highly of that game because, to many of us it IS what RPG's should be! I really hope this (DA:O coming out) means I don't have to keep getting empty RPG titles from various companies; only to bring them back to the store days later for a trade in. I really hope this game is a huge success for many people across many platforms, and shows the rest of the world how to make a great fantasy adventure RPG.
You guys may or may not know how bored and left out people like me have felt constantly wishing that we could play a title as engrossing and engaging as a great fantasy RPG. I do mean a fantasy RPG that wasn't half-baked, or missing mechanics. A fantasy RPG without a whiny kid for a protagonist, or a silent one would have been great. Also, none of us (who are like me) ever truly feel satisfied playing hack n slash spin offs, or 1st person dungeon crawlers. I am talking about the kind of epic RPGing you can only find with a game like Baldur's Gate or being lucky enough to find people (that are reliable, and a great DM) for DnD sessions once a week. Sadly, only the Baldur's Gate series had THAT.
So, if you all feel like me, shout at the top of your lungs about hoping that DA:O gives us that same feeling we all got from Baldur's Gate!
