Of course, he's an old school Marine, so there's no such thing as "impossible" to him. Just something that's REALLY fun.

I think I first said: "OH, S---!" or "HOLY S---!" and possibly uttered the f-word a few times after seeing how many of them there were.

I felt hope.
I felt hope for fighting a war that will kill characters I've loved, draw others closer together, an impressive twisting plot that will keep me guessing, a very long and complex main quest, and ultimately something that I'll walk away from with a smile on my face knowing that I created a hero (way back when in ME1) and stood by him through several battles (both physical and emotional) to ultimately leave the galaxy a better place than I found it.
Shepard is Shepard, but my Shepard is me and I made a difference. No other game or medium short of playing a sport has ever touched me like that. I know the vast majority will look at me and say: "OH MY GOD IT'S JUST A VIDEO GAME!"
Yes, but it's a game that makes you think and ask yourself who you really are inside. And if you make the choices you feel are right eventually that video game character you've been looking at all this time looks back at you and you realize that you're looking at yourself.
So yeah, I feel hope =)
Excactly my feelings aswell
This is the only game(s) who have tied my nr.1 spot of game of all time.. That game being: Zelda: Ocarina Of Time
Most people will say Ocarina of Time will be one of their top 2 or 3 games overall. But the difference from Ocarina and Mass Effect is the Nostalgia factor. We've saved Hyrule a different way in every game over the last 25 years, but Mass Effect has the deep personal factor going for it that cant be beat.

Me versus thousands or possibly millions of Reapers... I wouldn't have it any other way. As my Grandfather always said "If it's impossible, than we make it possible. And anyone who says other wise needs a swift kick in the a**."

Try slamming a revolving door.

Has anyone noticed that in the final scene when the reaper's are shown at the edge of the milky way, that it dousn't actually look like our galaxy (not compared to images I've seen anyway)
They probably only have just started moving.
I believe the backup plan was Harbinger uses the Collectors to create a new Human Reaper, then activates the Citadel Relay with it. After it fails, the only choice left is to wake the Reapers from their "rest state" and go there themselves.

That too, was my initial reaction, mixed in with quivering anticipation, overwhelming fear and a touch of arousal.
I also hoped that the first thing they did was consume all non-human council members.

Well the milky way is a spiral galaxy, the one in the ending scene looked like a central light surrounded by a ring of stars with some light in betweenDingoEffect wrote...

I don't see how you can tell which galaxy it is. I could be wrong however. I'm sure its safe to say its our galaxy seeing how they are mad at us.

How did you react to seeing the entire reaper fleet heading for the milky way at the end of ME2?
I think this motivational poster covered mine fairly well:
I kind of just went, "yeah, that's about what I thought it would look like." I did some theoretical estimation of their approximate numbers in another thread, I figure there are around 440,000 reapers.
