as a sidenote: oghren being the returning char? cool. he was fun all around and had some of the most interesting conversations with the other companions. what will really get me upset is having the expansion walk over choices made during each playthrough (you guys already said that's not the case, but it is a pretty herculean task to keep it all together. i don't envy you... ok, maybe a little)

I believe that the smartest thing for BioWare to do, in general was to say there would be one... but actually, there would be none from Origins.

Agreed. As long as the address the issue in a satisfying and plausible way, I'm fine with the other companions (and especially the lovers) not returning.

There is no doubt that that is Oghren in the trailer. I mean, a person has to be blind or outrageously stubborn to continue denying it.



I think what David Gaider means to say, from his posts in this thread, is that nothing is being specifically kept secret; it is just that they are releasing information according to a timetable and are not going to just run onto the forums to answer every (or indeed any) question raised by the fans outside of that timetable.



Oghren is right there in the trailer for everyone to see so it would have to be some kind of strange bait and switch operation by Bioware if he then did not feature in Awakening.

First of all Ogrhen was one of the companions I used the least, simply because I could never get him to make some real damage. If he's returning, I'm fine with it. It just means I'll get to explore his personality more than I did in DA:O.



And now to the whole "Is he really the returning companion?"-thing. I'd say it's about a 75% chance he is. I base this on the following;

the only reason BioWare would show Oghren in the trailer and then NOT put him in the game would be if they knew we would get disappointed in his appearance and subsequently glad that they we're only tricking us. If, on the other hand, they we're expecting us to be excited about Oghren (thinking he was the favorite returning companion) and then put him in the trailer but not in the game there would be an outrage. Since people would feel tricked. It would not be a smart move... I don't believe BioWare had that kind of insight on our feelings concerning companions at the starting stages of DA:Awakenings. So, considering this, he is most likely the returning companion...

I said in the past that it would be a childish, not professional move for BioWare to take away Oghren after putting him in the trailers. Still, I had a vision of sorts this night, so I don't care anymore. Be it Oghren or not, I trust in BioWare's professional aspect.

Has anyone ever said Oghren *wouldnt* be in the game *at all* ? no. You do know there will be cameo roles? Its funny how just because hes in party formation the leap to full companion happens.

Without knowing what form those cameos take, nothing rules out an in-party cameo for atleast *part* of the game be from Oghren or the others. It was handled that way for Hordes of the Underdark another bioware expansion.

One thing we can *definitely* say he atleast makes an appearance.

Party formation? He's seen battling with the party in some shots, and the number of members is always 4. Also note that on the pictures you see here, there is another shot, of a full party, BUT without him, only meaning the player could chose him. I am not saying that he has a full role however. He might have just a temporary role against the Queen of the Dead Marsh for all we know.

As for Oghren, if it's him, I'm fine with that. If he's just making a cameo, I'm fine with that too. My favorite PC is done and enjoying life. She's done adventuring and questing. I'll not pull her out of that and away from her lover, so my Character will be a new one anyway, or one that hasn't romanced anyone in Origin.

Many think he's #1 most likley for the spot, but no one can claim for sure that he is. Nothing confirmed yet, but he's obviously a companion for a short time if nothing else.

I guess it could be Duncan wearing Oghren's skin, slightly crushed down  or maybe Dagna had an OP & grew a beard.
