In Mass Effect 1 I can no longer regain health after battles, just my teams shields can regenerate. Whats the problem, it wasn't like this on my first playthrough?

Ummm... you need to press y and use medigel to regain health.... or there is one armor type that lets you regen health.

Last time I played I automatically regained health after battles, now I can ONLY regenerate health (not shields they work fine) with medigel, or is that just how it works on normal?

Last time you were a Soldier or another class with health regenerating talents or health regenerating armor upgrades. This time, you aren't.
