There are definitely parts of the game though, and I don't see how anyone can disagree, where she looks pretty good. And there are parts where she looks great.

This. She looks too smug when strait faced. Add that to the b*tchy personality and she's very unappealing to me.

As for the uncanny valley... no, all of the characters suffer from that.

That was amazing, and quite frankly, groundbreaking for me.

Oftentimes the face looks fine, not exceptionally pretty (in my opinion), but natural enough in the game world. Not out of place in respect to people droning on about "uncanny valleys" (this, alongside "cliché" and "archetype" has got to be one of the most overused terms on this forum).
The problem of it looking "off" usually arises when ill-lit and shadowed. Something about how the shadows sit with the especially pale skin that remains starkly bright isn't right. The contrast with the dark hair emphasizes this probably (not to mention the modeling of the hair itself is somewhat bad, I think).

Nah, actually, if you change her face, I would be fine. I don't even hate her. I just find it mildly off-putting.Impala wrote...
To be 100% honest I think people are just haters...even if she was the most beautiful character in the world people would still hate on her. All of the Bioware character designers obviously thought she was beautiful as they put her in the game to play the basically beautiful assassin role. She is 1000 times more pretty than any other girl that has been in Mass Effect at least...and I don't even really think that's arguable outside of ashley.
I think Jack has a much better face than her. Ignoring the lack of hair, of course.

thats what i mean, her face looks like they made some mistake or they didnt have time to go over it... sheppards face looks good and real...jacob too etc. but hers is kind of strange...probably the girlfriend of one of the producers looks like that and he just wanted to get some bonus sexy time from here by making her immortal within the game
miranda is voiced by and modeld after the actress Yvonne Strahovski (from Chuck) Yvonne is gorgeous. But I do agree there are times in the game were she looks a little strange and then there are times when she looks almost real.

Miranda is the most beautiful mortal female in the game and more beautiful that any woman that exists in the real world.....nonetheless she is no match for the goddess Tali'Zorah Vas Normandy.

Each time a woman is presented as the "ultimate woman" genetically designed to be superior in everyway, people are invariably going to list reasons why she is not perfect/superior. That is simply because physical perfection is a subjective thing. What is beautiful to you is never really a universal thing.
I don't think Miranda looks like she was genetically enhanced to be superior. Not unless her dad was a really ugly man. BUT she IS LOVELY by any standards. She has a great body. I just think the entire "genetically engineered to be superior" thing sets unrealistic expectations that most models simply can't meet.

Yeah, animation on the mouth is exaggerated. It opens wider than it should and too much teeth exposed.Rivercurse wrote...

Ummm... yeah. That was terrible. Even Miranda looks better than whatever the heck that was, and I'm not exactly fond of Miranda's appearance...
Honestly, I find Yvonne attractive in real life so it's not some "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" thing. Whether it's simply bad modeling or an example of the "uncanny valley", I can't really say. But I find Miranda's face to be very bad, and I'd be hard pressed to find one instance throughout the entire game where that was not the case. Her forehead is too big, her jawline is too wide, and her face looks too pudgy giving her a pug-like appearance that, combined with her ever-present smug grin and "I'm the hottest thing since bakery fresh cinnamon rolls" attitude, makes me wince every time I see her (her bucked-tooth-gap doesn't win her any beauty awards either and I'm puzzled why they made her that way as Yvonne's teeth are perfect).
Jack is kind of a conundrum. Her face is incredibly hot to me. She looks like Angelina Jolie back when Angelina Jolie was still attractive and didn't look like an unwrapped mummy with an appetite for ethnic children. It's just a shame that everything else about Jack has to be so d*mn offputting, from her (lack of) hair to her tattoos to her flat-as-a-board physique and her "badass b*tch" attitude. Seriously, watch the Jack romance finale and tell me she wouldn't be gorgeous if she grew out her hair and got some implants. Then compare it to Miranda's scenes and decide for yourself. This what happens when a modeler creates a character from scratch and isn't trying to make her look like a real person, and it's why the new industry trend of making characters look like their voice actors is really irritating me.
