The two classes I've played so far are Infilitrator(in progress) and Vanguard(first completion).
Both had an ability that defined the class fairly well and was interesting to use.
Tech Armor is a more passive ability, wondering if playing a Sentinel would just be boring without anything as cool as Tactical Armor or Charge to keep the combat somewhat interesting.

I might just go back to Vanguard, planning to play a renegade this time just to experience the dark side a bit.

Sentinels play a bit like a caster, where as Vanguard and Infiltrator both use their guns to kill a Sentinel can just Warp/Overload/Throw everything to death.

A sentinel is basically what an Adept should be.

I wouldn't say we are the casters of ME2, we have to waste time putting on Tech Armor (which totally allows us to tank and beat Krogans down in a fist fight)

I have played a few hours of all the classes but only beat the game with sentinel and soldier and imo sentinel is not only the most fun class but the easiest also. You can take a beating and have something for everything.

Sentinel I am playing as my second character after Adept, and as people said it is mostly Biotics and Tech usage over guns plus Tech Armor is great for knocking enemies down

In comparison my Adept I used a Pistol, Sniper Rifle, and Warp the entire game to kill, as my Sentinel I am using Throw, Overload, Cyro Blast, and Warp for most of my kills although I might add Energy Drain or Reave

With my sentinel I mainly use warp/throw/overload/slam, with the assault rifle. Cryo blast is good but a throw is better at keeping an enemy back when you don't have the shields to take close range. But onto what thing thread is about, the sentinel is the best class, and the best against the collectors and husk's. a well evolved throw can kill most husks with one hit, and the recharge is fast to boot.

In Mass Effect 2 they really made enemy defenses matter, and as such, a Sentinel is a perfect soldier as he can break down all those defenses.

The thing about Tech Armor over other shields is that it has an unlimited duration until it breaks. It also allows you to take additional damage, granting you the ability to stand out of cover for a longer period of time. In other words, the Sentinel is much like a tank. So if you enjoy playing someone that can take the damage but not deal out much damage yourselves, go with Sentinel.

I played as an Infiltrator for my Normal / Veteran runs. The strategy suits my style, allowing me to snipe with almost perfect accuracy. The battles were fairly easy excluding the battle on horizon when you have to kill two Scions while the husks are flanking you. My hardcore class started as a Sentinel, but I found that the class is lacking in fun. It's amusing to see how much damage you can tank and to get in their faces, but that was it for me.

Thus, I switched to an Engineer and found that I am having more fun with this class than the Infiltrator. I love the drone and its distraction, allowing me to wear down their shields with overload x2 (me and Miranda), then Incinerate to dissolve armor. When their health bar is red, I would pull with Jacob and excute a kill with warp explosion with Miranda. The drone works for clutch moments if you're getting flanked and you could deal a good amount of damage as a group. Though I found that it was easier to have manual control over the team's powers. For the first half of the game, I'm going with Demolisher, then I will test out the AI hacking / Dominate strategy as an Engineer once I get Morinth on my team since I haven't unlocked Dominate.

I know Engineer wasn't what you were talking about, but I felt like I should share since few people share feedback about the class. :)

I'm having a lot of fun with my Sentinel. I took a nonstandard path and maxed his armor for powers, then fully developed Neural Shock and Warp (and working on Overload). I'm waiting to see how many Collectors I can paralyze with the NS( took the area of effect option).

^ I disagree. I find Sentinel to be the most challenging and rewarding class to play as, especially on Insanity.

Sure, there are some extremely tough and frustrating situations where you wish you packed a little more offensive punch...but, with so many tools at your disposal, it's only a matter of time before you're able to counter almost any situation in the game. Sentinel is hands-down the most fun class to play as in ME2, IMO.

Sentinels are the best class to play if attempting to beat the game on insanity. Otherwise I'd say go with other classes cause their play style is more fun (infiltrator and vanguard are my personal favorites).

Yes and no.  To me, the Sentinel is one of the few jack-of-all-trades classes that actually works.  It reminds me of a Red Mage from FFXI as you could sub just about any job and make it work.  Likewise the ME2 Sentinel can use just about any bonus power or weapon and still be effective.  Yes, it is a caster but I would agree that it is not even close to being limited to casting alone.

I loved my Sentinel playthrough -- between Warp and Overload there wasn't much of an enemy defense that could stand against me, and I added Miranda's Slam for some extra biotic fun. Since I'm not all that keen on using guns anyway, the more skill-based damage I could do, the better, and that class suited me just fine.

the most flexible class. I think the biggest advantage is actually that it makes almost any combination of squadmates work. Not be optimal, but acceptable. So if you're sick of say, Miranda, you can leave her back on the ship.

sentinel is a great class, besides the obvious tech armor advantage, the combination of warp and overload make you a deadly medium - close range fighter. add a sniper to mix and you'll do a lot of damage

I've been using a Sentinel for my first insanity playthrough and I gotta tell ya....its keeping it fun. I couldn't imagine playing through this difficulty with only guns.

He basically never dies on any difficulty setting, assuming you know what you are doing. He does have a bit of rough start on Insanity, due to relatively weak offensive powers but once you maximize warp and tech armor, you start to feel the raw power of the class in terms of survivability.

I'll add another "very fun to play". I played it on Normal and Insanity and it was great both times.

Boring as **** imo. I've only played sentinel on insanity but the most vivid memory that stuck with me was waiting for the goddamn skill cd's. I mean sure, it's a well-rounded class and it's got some good passives that quicken the recharge on skills but comparatively speaking it still kills **** too goddamn slowly. One could argue it's the most 'versatile' class but then there's also very little a warp/AP-ammo Widow headshot can't dispatch.

Plus, even maxed tech armour is too weak to really make a difference on insanity; the only real benefit it brings is the reduced skill cd.

Sentinels are, in my opinion, the easiest class to play. You get all the powers you need to break down any enemy defenses, plus tech armor, which lets you tank on demand.

Actually, don't know if anybody else looks at it like this, but if you let your power wheel recharge after using tech armor, you basically have a free super-shield recharge as soon as your shields go down. Sentinels are the survivors.

I've only played Sentinal and Soldier so far, but Sentinal was way more fun to play. I'm missing a sheild and have to give myself the Geth Sheild skill because i'm getting bored of waiting for health and sheilds to constantly recharge.

I used Warp Ammo as an additional skill and picked up the assult rifle in the Collector ship.

On Veteran or easier the Sentinel is an unkillable death machine (especially after receiving weapons training). On Insanity however you become mealy an effective support class.

Recently started a sentinel after completing the game with an infiltrator. The fact that sentinels have no abilities that boost weapon damage suggests to me that if you try to rely on guns you're going to feel rather gimped (not sure if taking an ammo power as your bonus compensates).

Not sure why, but so far don't find relying on powers quite as fun as the gunplay of the infiltrator - maybe this has something to do with the power effects (the muted 'bloop' of a warp attack just doesn't have the visceral factor of a sniper headshot).
