So, I've heard rumors about who you bring along can effect a certain characters death. Can anyone send me a PM telling me if this is true? I also have a second question to ask involving ship upgrades and loyalty; so if anyone could help me out, that would be really great.

yeah characters die near the ende of the game if you don't do certain things

fully upgrade the ship, get all of them loyal and pick the best characters for each role its not that hard, my first playthrough i saved everyone without any help.
