While i agree that in mass effect 1 the skin textures were less the satisfactory at least for female characters, i think they did wonders with the skin in mass effect 2. I am pleased with my characters at least.

What i miss the most is more hair styles for women, cause they all end up looking the same since there is only one hairstyle i think is decent.
Miranda puts everyone to shame though, so one default character with her level of detail wouldn't hurt.
Miranda is supposed to be genetically engineered to be the perfect woman. She also is the type who uses her beauty as a distraction before she breaks your neck. Her appearance fits the storyline.
Female Shepard is supposed to be military woman who is strong in both body and mind. Not perfect, but a human who rose from humble beginnings. Male Shepard fills his role. He's handsome without being perfect.
Female Shepard doesn't have the same high quality "default" option for the main character.
The hairstyles don't bug me as much. Would you have long hair in the military? Just spend a semester in ROTC to figure that one out. Miranda is civilian - similar to a spy. Her hair fits her.
I will agree though, ME2 has improved. I don't have an issue with that.
But Shepard looked great in ME1 and ME2. I would like a consistent face to carry the plotline through all three storlines. They've given us that with the "default" male.
I'm just requesting that BioWare look into creating a default female that will patch overtop ME1 and ME2 - a "default" female face that is similar to the "default" male.
Don't get me wrong - I love BioWare's customization options. But don't you all think the female shepard should be given just as much attention as the male shepard? Why does the female character get less attention?

The biggest issue with long hair in the military today is hygiene. Considering people go through a decontamination process everytime they enter a ship that would no longer be an issue in the future.
Female Shepard has a good selection of hair though.
Male Shepard doesn't. He could use a longer hair options. Not long hair, just something with a fringe, and not just different varieties of crewcuts.

If its the facial features and not not the texture look that bugs you i guess thats fair enough. but for me that just takes tweaking with the creator.

Isn't all marketing good marketing?
There are quite a few people out there who believe the voice actor for the female is better.
I like them both, so I don't care.
But marketing two great voice actors couldn't be that big of a stretch.
Unless they think a female couldn't be taken seriously in ads. *sigh*

Oh i agree with you. I think the problem is that is harder to do female textures though. The thing that makes the male characters look better then female for me are indeed the flaws. But typically women don't have flaws or attleas it is covered up by make up and an undesirable trait. So from a artists stand point it's just harder to make a skin texture fro women.
If its the facial features and not not the texture look that bugs you i guess thats fair enough. but for me that just takes tweaking with the creator.
Um...girls have flaws. And many times it's our flaws that show our character.
A girl who is obessed with outward perfection wears a lot of makeup. And hides her flaws.
I know a girl who has a scar on her left cheek - but she doesn't hide it. She wears no makup, only moisturizer and sunblock. She never talks unless she has something intelligent to say. Gossip and what others think of as "girl talk" don't interest her. She's sarcastic and realistic to the point of insult, and most guys find her terrifying. But only to true friends - does she show her smile. She has two adorable dimples when she does smile.
She may not wear makeup, she may have scars on her face. But she is beautiful.
Women aren't perfect, and those who are obessesed with outside perfection often don't know themselves.

My issue is not with the ME2 character generator.
It's with the way BioWare refuses to have a good baseline female default character.
The male side gets it's own model. Can't the female side have one?
I just think this would be fabulous as DLC that works for the first two games. If we have a default male for all three games - please fill the void in the female side.
That's all I wanted to communicate when this started....going off topic happens quickly...

Most if not all of the fem shep defaults are average looking women. To the right guy they can all be the dream girls, but by hollywood standards they don't cut it.
I am well aware that women can have flaws in real life, but having wrinkles or moles or scars or pimple scars are not really traits the average women admires. And most women cover it up.
If you look at my male character he has the "ugliest" complexion choice he has wrinkles pimple scars and the whole package and that to me that makes him look rugged and cool. Adding that texture to a women wouldnt be something i would do though.
That why i point out that it's hard to add the same kind of detail to female textures cause if you over do it it just looks ugly. But again if its too perfect it looks fake.
But yeah people like different types of looks so making the perfect default shep is hard. I personally don't think the default male shepard you see in vids looks that cool. I prefer my own shepard.

It's a pity that ME2's femshep has to now share all of male Shepards motion capture movements. (walk, jog, run....which wasn't the case in ME1, as she had her own)
They did share some motions in ME1 but I agree wholeheartedly. Did you ever play DAO? The animations are so masculine and all the female characters in the game have them - it's terrible.

Damn that is a good looking femShep. You have the facecode for her?

I like the default character that BioWare came up with. Although, originally I didn't care for him.
I decided I should play the default "soldier" class once. My first playthrough was actually with a female.
I didn't have a problem with the female characters until I saw how lifelike the male shepard was.
Personally, I think any guy other than the default look horrible. But that's me.
The real point is that BioWare took the time to create an highly detailed default male character. Of course, BioWare gave a character creator for those who want different skin colors, hair, eyes...etc. Howevever, the charater generator imposes limitations on how detailed and "lifelike" the character can be. They can only do so much with the character generator.
Once I had one playthrough with the "lifelike" detail - I couldn't get enough of it.
I'm just sad that they don't have one - highly detailed model for the women's side. They didn't model the character after her voice actor or anyone else. She is dependent entirely on the character generator. And - the generator can only give you so many details. Therefore, there is no way to have a "lifelike" experience while playing a Female Shepard.
I hope that makes sense. I seem to be making people think I'm complaining about the character generator. That's not it. A Character generator can only be detailed to a point. That's fine - I don't expect the impossible from BioWare.
I'd just like BioWare to choose whom they would like to represent the Female Shepard - just like they picked someone to represent the Male Shepard.

Yeah, I know 'EXACTLY' what you're talking about regarding DA:O. It looks...................wrong.
Still, glad to see someone else spotted the differences between ME1 / ME2 motion capture difference/s for femshep.

But you will always have people who aren't pleased with the default and if one character looks twice as detailed as others then people will complain that there kind of character doesn't look as good. So there will always be people not satisfied.

bit.ly/axUcwa I can post the character code if anyone is interested.
Whats weird is that I had only seen her one time before I created my Shepard.
