well which and why? I hope people pick part 2 cuz I have high hopes for it. I bought the collector's edition but haven't played it yet cuz I got other games to play before I play it like Dragon Age, Uncharted 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, Silent Hill Shattered Memories, than last Mass effect 2.
ok what is better ~Mass Effect 1~ or ~Mass Effect 2~?

I'm partial to the first game.
But there are stuff in the second one that outclasses the first one and in reverse, stuff in the first that outclasses the second.
I'd go with what Gorn said. Get both. They're both great games.

The main story is better in the first one but just about everything else is better in the 2nd

Well it has been stated in a interview that Mass Effect 2 will indeed have a expansion pack! Yes!

I prefer RPGs and ME1 is more of an RPG than ME2. ME1 is a superior game.

ME1 had more of an epic story, but failed at combat, and mako. ME2 story is very cliche, I didn't feel as connected to characters as i did in ME1, but excels in combat, and I like the mining time sink more than the mako time sink.
Rpg vs shooter.

ME2 is overall more polished and the better game but both should be played as the story of both games is amazing and continuous.
In all honesty the people who say ME2 is rubbish and ME1 is so much better are usually fairly blinkered. They remember the countless levels of going to the exact same bunker and shooting the exact same bad guys as being immersive sidequests. They remember better character interaction and forget that most characters only had a page of dialogue mostly in elevators. They remember an inventory system, they don't remember it was complicated and badly implemented.

ME2. I really liked the characters better. However, the whole 'surprise!' factor in the plot twist of ME1 was much more interesting.
And quite trolling.

They are both great.
Mass Effect 2 is better in almost every way.
However, the first one's story was ten times better than the second one's.

I do remember one thing about ME1 over ME2, Justin2K. I had more fun playing ME1 over ME2 and having fun is what matters most to me.

They're both great. Each game has some features that are better then what the other has to offer. So I won't say I prefer one over the other.

I must say I prefered ME1, I am much more attached to the story and characters in that game than ME2.
How is ME2 story cliche? I think both have awesome stories and great story telling. I think I'd still buy the game if it was just full of cut scenes and dialogue choices. It'd be like a 'choose your own adventure' book
ME2 got rid of all the bad stuff in ME1, and over all improved, but some things got thrown out with the bathwater. Its definitely a shorter game for me because of all the things removed.
Deep character development is worse in ME2 unfortunately, there are more characters, but even with the good loyalty missions, not as deep.
EDIT: Actually thats wrong, the loyalty missions make it pretty deep. But its not engaging because they are independent of each other. They do not flow with the plot. And there are just too many for me to care about all of them.
