I heard somewhere you can use Grunt's unique shotgun, or Legion's unique sniper rifle, with some sort of advanced training. Is this true? If so, how?

you can get legion's special sniper on the collector ship in a weapons pile

Vanguards can get the special Shotgun

Infiltrators can get the special Sniper

Soldiers can get a special Assault Rifle (I think)

cant soldiers get a special AR, claymore shotgun or the widow sniper?

Yes, soldiers can choose between all three.

The Claymore Shotgun sucks, it's pump action and it takes forever to shoot. I get better use out of the Scimitar.

on the collector ship you can chose a shotgun, sniper rifle, or assault rifle. if your something like an adept or engineer who only get smgs and pistols then its just the ability to use that weapon but if your class could already use that weapon you get an advanced weapon(like grunt's shotgun or legion's sniper). also if your a soldier you get the gun the geth prime's use. not a geth rifle its a light machine gun type weapon.
