Unless I missed something, I don't see how to filter what I see in What's New?

Once there are lots of users, What's New won't be much help unless we can filter out the spam.

For example, I might want to filter to all forum posts, everything my friends do, and nothing else.

As far as I can see, all I can do is limit what I post to My Comments via Privacy.

filtering is available on user_home.tpl, which also updates more quickly. We'll change the behaviour so that the site takes you there by default if you're logged in (which will also reduce some confusion on how the feeds work)

this has been fixed; you should now see the 'preferences' link on your homepage activity feed.

Allowing filtering by friends or groups would be a valuable addition.
