Do you prefer that enemies spawn in predictable places and in waves or should they be random?

Still trying to put baby to bed on Insane and the most annoying thing is knowing the spawns by heart and it making no difference. If I'm going to be stuck doing the same thing for 2 days....

It can be really hard early on, but later in the game when you have your skills boosted and most of your upgrades it gets a hell of a lot easier.
