i played crysis and the expansion and loved it, not only because of the eyecandy, which was over the top amazing and still unsurpassed, but came at a cost. it raped my system back when it came out.
but i can play me2 maxed on my notebook. no way in hell i could do that with crysis. i could barely run that maxed on my gaming rig, that was top of the line when crysis came out, and it's still faster than my brand new notebook.

I mean, the OP may be blowing it a bit out of proportion, but it's still valid.

unreal engine 3 is quite old nowadays and eyecandy comes at a price.
i'm happy the way it is. not absolute top of the line, but smooth.

You're right. The textures are bad quality. It's a little sloppy. I'm not defending bioware. I'm accusing you of having no life because you care about it so much.

Mass Effect 2 is a great looking game, but when you look at armor/clothing textures close-up, like you do during all conversations, a very large part of the gameplay, it doesn't look very good at all. I can't remember any of Half Life 2's clothing textures having blocks that big, and it came out 6 years ago.
Are YOU serious Malovelence65?
You take nitpicking to an extreme.

Graphics card DOES NOT equal texture size. Thank you for understanding.
Also, yes, some textures are pretty low quality but it's not that important.

Sauce for the goose. What if your criticism is mindless and unjustified? One bad texture or even a handful of bad textures in a game that's filled with excellent detail and graphics is hardly rational.

But seriously, I've gotten this myself, but does it really matter? Most of the game looks fantastic (My very large stack of screenshots would suggest so anyway), and I'm usually too busy having fun shooting things to notice this kind of thing. Life's too short to get caught up on this stuff.

I bash this game plenty, but
1. Graphics ****es are dumb in general IMO, I really don't care what the game looks like I want it to be fun to play.
2. This is a fairly small detail in the graphcis of the game as a whole, so your complaint is nitpicking in the extreme.
3. From the topic title to everything you have said, you make this out to be a big issue when it is so insignificant that it is not worth even mentioning.
So no I don't mindlessly defend bioware, you mindlessly bash it.

It does feel like that doesn't? It's like nerds defending a so called "girl on the internets" there are none, but they can't be convinced.
OP: It sucks that apparently, you aren't allows to point out any flaws in this game. You did know it was perfect right?
Maybe if you tempered your criticism with a bit of praise, there might not be so much back lash. I run a fairly high-end system, and I noticed a significant amount of jaggies myself (both AA & low-res textures). It was in the first game as well, and although it was distracting, I thought I had read that it was a limitation w/ the game engine. In any case, ignore the fools, you are not whining, OCD, or whatever. This is clearly important to you...a paying customer. Nevermind how many people just don't "get it".
I think the game looks superb graphically, but I definitely see your point. I remember watching something on the collector's DVD about them spending a lot of time updating the textures to make characters look better. I think they succeeded where they spent time, but just didn't work with every texture. Try to recognize that some effort was made, but at some point polish has to take a back seat to release dates. Despite all the spelling, voice acting, dialog, and graphical errors the game looks and performs very well for release day material. 8 months after release, I was still unable to play Fallout 3 without crashing, and when it didn't crash I couldn't use VATS due to another unpatched bug. I mean, they have an unoffical cummunity patch going because BethSoft won't get it together. This release, even with some disappointments is so far beyond that in terms of quality and playability the flaws that are there seem minor. That being said, improvements can be made, and you should always voice your concerns. Hopefully, Bioware will hear some of it and be able to improve the next game.

But guess what - I realized it AFTER playing ME 2. Because I was so absorbed by the awesome dialoges and interessting characters, that I'd more time spent on lookin on their faces rather than their suits.
So it's a "problem" that I don't really care for.
MY opinion:
> I feel kinda sorry for the OP, because he's THAT upset about such a minor thing.
> I feel kinda sorry for the flamethrowers, because it seems that they see some kind of scapegoat in the OP (<- "Uh, he's the manifestation of all the bad FPS crap that flooded our sweet RPG!!111 omgomg").
There's no point in insulting each other because of something like THIS. Come on guys, please, be reasonable.

First off--the point you're making is silly. Calling a company out for ONE bad texture(which, frankly isn't THAT bad texture wise, and even has an alternate explanation). Segwaying to point two...Malevolence65 wrote...

The Blue Suns paint their armor. That specific piece of texture you're whining about isn't present on any other Blue Sun character/NPC models. There's chunkiness LIKE it on other parts however.

First of all, he's a person with an own opinion. Maybe he's the son of the devil, but even so, what's the POINT in flaming him?
Trust me, the BioWare folks DO read the opinions of their customers. But you're not stating an opinion. You're just punching a single person because of your frustration.
You don't get your voice heard by attacking others. That would even more tend to annoy BW. You wanna know how we crazy Tali-lovers got our Tali-romance? We made (mostly - there are always black sheep) peaceful threads, stating our deep wish to get the chance to romance this cute but intelligent young quarian. Even though other people didn't get tired of posting things like "NARF BW WILL NEVA DO THIS ON ME 2 LULZZ U CANNOT EVEN ****CC HERR!", we tried to keep it peaceful. Same goes for the Garrus fans. Their position was even more difficult - male character, less supporters.
Maybe it's just me, but I have the feeling that the new crowd that arrived with the release of ME 2 has no idea how to handle their opinions without hate towards other people...
