Need some advice on Soldier's Peak outcome (live or let die)

Hello all:

I just downloaded the Soldier's peak story.

And I have a few questions. I played both outcomes ...

1) killing the Mage, and then helping Sophia to shut the veil. I let her live - and she's run off into the world. The question is ... will I see her again? Is there another story line if I actually let her live? I really hope so! At the end, the guy says "no matter what she says, I think this won't the last time we'll meet her".

I am afraid if I kill her, I might be closing another story Arc.

If I will not see her again, should I just kill her and get the XP and her loot?

2) If I kill Sophia, with the help of the mage ... should I let Avernus live?

And if I let him live, will I see him again? I'm afraid I kill him - I might be closing another story arc.
And if I let him live, does it make a difference if I let him continue his experimentation on humans?

All in all, what I wonder is if there are any long term consequences of my actions by killing off a couple of these characters now. I'm not sure if I do that, I'm closing off part of the story line.

And does anyone know if I do let Avernus continue experimenting on humans, does that make a difference in the story line versus if I tell him to stop?

Look forward to your replies!

So far you wont see either again. I think most people expect that neither will make an appearance anytime soon either since they were introduced in a completly optional DLC.

But there won't be an answer until awakening. And if they don't show up there, there won't be an answer till the next new content...

This is the perfect example why it's good to play different games... This game you let her live, next time you kill her n let Avernus live, next 1 if you decide to play again you can kill both. N by the way if your having a hard decision now on Warden's keep wait until later on when it gets tougher lmao

I agree, playing it too early on makes this section way to easy.

I guess what I'm trying to find out ... is there a reason I should let both live? Or just take their loot.

It would be awesome if the game rewarded "patience", in the sense, I don't kill all of them ... and (if I let Sophia live) I meet her again sometime later since the add-on to the game might still influence later on.

This is such a rewarding game, I am now wondering if there are much later repercussions as to my actions.

What's to stop the publishers from having already added something in this DLC that means we meet either Avernus or Sophia later on - since I've barely finished 10% of the game. Maybe there is a change embedded in the story that people don't know about since they usually just kill both.

Siradix, what do you mean ... "playing it too earler on makes this section way too easy"? What do you mean by "it" and why does it make Soldier's pass too easy?

It doesn't really matter who you let live, it won't affect the end story. Alistair and leliana might disapprove you letting Sophia live, they don't mind the mage.

As for being too easy, I went to Soldier's Peak right after Lothering with my HNF warrior with shield and sword combo and breezed through the place. The longest fight was the demon at the end. She wasn't hard, it just took longer to take her out.

The mage gives you Robes of Avernus, a robe that improves Blood Magic, if you kill him.

Sophia gives you Warden Commander Armor Set, if you kill her.

Ok here's the deal with Warden's Peak... Once your done inside the keep you will hear nothing again in this game about Sofia or Avernus (well if you ask Levi about Avernus he'll say he hasn't heard a peep) but that is all you hear about and you will not be able to go back into the building once you leave the area... I've never let Sofia live cause she's just downright evil n what decides me is her "feed" word... Avernus on the other hand I let live hopping that in a later expansion he might actually come up with something from his research as long as he does it in a humane way...  As far as if we ever do hear anything again in the future about this that will be in an expansion n more than likely not lol... But who's to say what the Devs have planned.

That's not what I was talking about when I mentioned "you think this is hard wait until later", I was talking about the decisions you have to make... Warden Peak's choices are a piece of cake compared to other ones in the game even after playing multiple times lmao... I still can't get myself to kill a certain person/kid in a certain quest lol

Based on what we know - I always kill Sofia and get the loot off her. With Avernus, sometimes he dies - more often he doesn't. I don't care about the blood mage robes since I don't have one. And I thought he might help come up with something useful for the wardens in an expansion or dlc. If he doesn't that's okay too.

In the hopes that the developers have hidden content .... which will pop up eventually somewhere in the game down the line ...

I've decided to let Avernus live. And I do think we will see Avernus again and interact with him in some way because, as you mentioned Thor, Levi is his roommate.

Now, there seems to be a bug. I can't seem to open Levi's wares. He says certainly, but i don't get the option to buy or sell anyhting!

Looks like a mis-read your post, but still, you get more of a challenge if you wait until you level up more.

Did you leave the peak and come back?

I usually let Avernus live in the hopes that later he will have found a "cure" for the Grey Warden taint, we shall see though (and there's always Fiona if that plan fails). I can't resist the shiny armour that Sophia drops so, she usually ends up dieing. I wish that we saw these characters referenced more in the rest of the game but so far they seem to be locked off into DLC-land. Maybe we will hear about them more in the future..

Susan: I left the left the building and then re-entered (I went back to the statue to get the other clue).

But I did NOT leave the Peak area itself. Do I need to leave the Peak area, i.e. on the world map?

When you do leave the peak for the first time you will no longer be able to enter Warden's Keep. When you come back, Levi and his brothers will have set up camp and you can trade with them just outside the keep.

Hope you don't mind my answering.

yes you do need to leave the peak area but before you do make sure you've done everything in the building, cause once you leave the peak area you won't be able to get bk into the building. You did get the quest for the wardens stash right??? the hidden chest

Heh I always let Avernus live with his promise to do "ethical" research for the Wardens.  I always kill the possessed Sophia, because otherwise she is let loose on the world...to FEED.  :)

I might try killing both this time to see what repercussions if any..happen in Awakening. :)

I've got a questions for you all: Do you allow your PC to drink the vial or destroy it? I don't think the extra abilities go well with my PC's build but I wonder if it will have any affects later on, maybe in Awakening.

If you drink it, you have blood magic powers. You aren't a blood mage per se, but you're making use of blood magic. Some people would have something to say about that. While I would expect that would have consequences, it's a DLC, and optional, so they couldn't have consequences in the expansion unless they offer a way to get similar powers in the expansion itself.

Anyway, I destroy it because it involves blood magic and is the product of whole bunches o' evil.

You can try another game where you've become a bloodmage n have that just in case for Awakening's... The thing about this game is you don't have to just have 1 ending, their are multiple endings in this game n then when Awakenings comes out you can choose which ending you like best or use them all lol
