I have the same issue - during the cutscene where jack is coming out of cryo - the computer - MY COMPUTER - turns off! I gotta turn it back on wait for windows to fully load, run the game, load my save - and continue on. I tried this like 10 times in a row - and no matter what, this cutscene turns off my rig every single time without fail. I would absolutely LOVE to know what the heck is causing that to happen! Just skipping the movies gets you past that prob and no problems for me before or after that, but I'm still super curious about it.

First step in diagnosing this would be to make sure Windows is not set to automatically restart in case of system failure. In XP, this is under Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Startup and Recovery Settings. (I'm sure Google can instruct you on Vista/7.)

If it still reboots, rather than giving you a Blue Screen of Death, likely something is wrong with your hardware. Quite possibly something with the power supply - it's inadequate, or the connector is damaged, etc. but it could also be a bad card or chip as well.

If you got a BSoD, it should list a .dll name that will help clue you in to where the crash is happening. (Somewhere in drivers, most likely.)
