You can customize in ME 2.

REALLY?!?!

Then go on right ahead and show us how we can customize Miranda's armor with all the mods and doodads that Shepherd gets.  How about Garrus?  Jack?

After all you just said we can customize in ME2, well I want to customize my squads' armor.

SHOW US HOW OH GREAT ONE!

You can customize shepard's armor and the entire squard's upgrades and abilities. That's customization.

Please show me.

They went too far, i want mods, i want squad armors, i want to choose what upgrades to put in my armors.
All this is out the window and it sucks.

I will admit armor customization for squad mates would have been nice. That's my only real gripe with the "RPG aspect". It worked for Shepard. Too bad they didn't do it for everyone else.

It's because they were poor. Poor people only get two pairs of clothes in the future.

Psh. The only reason some of these people have a pot to ****** is because of me. They should be thankful!

There is only color customization for N7 armor and some parts that you exchange, no other armor has customization besides the N7 and the squad gets pajamas to fight for survival.

how can you guys call yourselves rpg fans if things like this are nothing to you, an rpg isn´t just this but if customization is out the window then i can´t call ME2 an rpg.

Wow, then I guess our pen-and-paper Star Wars SAGA game is not an RPG, according to your narrow-minded definition. We would never dream of using some stupid inventory system, carrying around tons of loot and spending time checking every dead body for even more junk. Our guys carry lightsabers, that's it.

The fact is that ME2 is definitely an RPG, whether you are mature enough to admit it or not.

Stop being obtuse then. The complete removal of the inventory system is a major step backwards and removes the ability to change the look of the squad and what they put in its place simply makes no sense. It is stupid and poorly designed. PERIOD.

That isn't how I played the Star Wars SAGA.  I field strip every foe for armor, weapons, loose cred.  Then our party repurpose them and set up caches for the Rebel Alliance with the gear we didn't need or sell.

I don't like the inventory system, because I liked the one in ME1. I don't hate it, though, and I can understand why some people prefer this, and I definitely agree that the lack of an invisible huge backpack is positive and more realistic.

Personally, though, I would like to see some kind of compromise between the two systems. Like, if you could see the stats of the weapons, to compare damage, speed etc, and perhaps modify that somewhat. But not by carrying a couple of hundred different mods and upgrades in your non-existent backpack, but by researching like you do here. That would be great.

I said an rpg isn´t just about this, you are the one narrow minded so go wave your maturity somewhere else.

Role play (ie assuming the role of Commandar Shepard) is what defines an RPG. All these other things are just fluff and mainly the result of emulating combat. Mass Effect 2 didn't need them to do it.

Actually you said in plain english that if customisation goes out the window you can't call ME2 an RPG. There isn't really a hell of a lot of room for misunderstanding there.

Personally I can't figure out why you think customisation has been thrown out the window - I know it hasn't with what's installed on my system, anyway, as my Shep's armour has been custom designed for surivivability and weapon damage, his skillset emphasises biotics over conventional combat (hence the suit set up) and his personal arsenal is intended to provide a balanced selection of hardware to allow him to attack target at any range. This setup was all my choice.

Bollocks, I loved my items. It gives the reason to stop and explore rather than just charge through levels like this game does.

Explore what?  The endless list of junk in the menu?  I'll admit you ran across a few items between LVLs 10 and 40 that added some excitement to the game, but after that it was pure torture.

You have incentive to explore in this game to gain credits that get you those same items at vendors.  I just don't have to scroll thru 15 sets of useless armor and 10 copies of Incendiary ammo that all my squad had equipped 3 levels ago....

By that overly siimplistic definition would place Super Mario Brothers as a role playing game for you are indeed assuming the role of an Italian plumber.

Imrpovement != removal.  No one is saying that ME1's invenotry was the best ever.  It had a lot of room for improvement.  No one here is denying that.  However, removing the system instead of actually improving it was just a cheap-ass maneuver from Bioware.  It is a stupid and poor design.

That would work. However, role play isn't a major aspect of that game. That's why its called a platformer or whatever. Role play is a major aspect of Mass Effect 2 (along with action) hence why people call it can an Action RPG.

Mass Effect 1 is an Action RPG.  Mass Effect 2 is a RPS, similar to Borderlands but more story driven.

No it is not. Action RPG is a subgenre of the CRPG. RPS is a subgenre of shooters, may they be first person or third person.
