Noticed these on MassEffect2Faces.com:

Sadly, I'm playing ME2 on the X360 so I can't use the Gibbed Save Editor to add these to my own Shepard, but I've seen those hairstyles on NPCs in-game and thought to myself how nice they would look on my FemShep Infiltrator.

Seriously, the hairstyles are already there, in the game. The work has already been done. Clearly they're compatible with Shepard's face model... why were they not added as selectable hairstyles in character creation? Was it a clipping issue? If it clips, it clips. I'd rather have them and maybe have to tweak my face a bit than not have them at all.

I hope BioWare patches those hairstyles in or releases a DLC pack that unlocks them (and maybe adds some more options while they're at it). It seems like such a waste to have some of the best new hairstyles in the game locked to NPCs only.

Yeah when I saw those two in game I thought "DARN I WANT THOSE!!!"

Put 'em on the Cerberus Network please!

Two best hairstyles in the game.

I think they look cool, but that hairstyle is rather... y'know, frou-frou. Bioware has stated a reluctance to include long hair on a Shepard because it would clash with Shep's military character.

I can see why they'd refrain from giving Shepard an attractive, windswept bedhead.

On a side note... man, Shep #1 is SMOKIN'.

Good point! However, Bioware made the military statement, not I. I never said I agreed, I was just trying to defend their system, by their logic.

And, also, to play the devil's advocate (read as: Chris Priestly's advocate), you could argue that Shep COULD still be a Spectre, and might as well still be alliance. I'm pretty sure, canonically, Shep has no plans to STAY with Cerberus.

I think it's because they reserved those hairstyles for NPCs so they would be unique

I'd honestly like a longer Male Shep hairstyle...

Does anyone else think that first one looks like someone just dumped a bucket of water on her? Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have these, and Kelly's style, but it still looks like she's been doused.

On a separate note, I wonder if you COULD get these if you entered the right combination in the face code.

Not one of the people I know IRL who have been in the military grow out their hair.

They tell me that some habits stick with you, if only out of convenience. For Shepard, he/she wouldn't have to worry about getting hair caught while suiting up, can preserve personal hygiene better, can avoid hair-in-eyes syndrome, etc.

Just because s/he isn't in the military doesn't mean he doesn't still have reasons to keep his/her hair short(er).

Sadly no, you must use the save editor for the hairstyles. Luckily it isn't that hard to figure out if you search around a little.

Yeah, I just tried it. It's likely I could figure it out for myself, alas, I'm playing on the 360.

I laughed out loud when I read that. I agree that Shep deserves it, if nothing else.

I don't buy the "Shep is military so no long hair" argument. I think it's a cop out.

For starters, several of the FemShep hair options are long enough as is that "hair-in-eye syndrome" would still be a problem, so that excuse is BS. Secondly, what's the point in allowing us to customize our Shep's appearance if aspects of said appearance are just going to be dictated to us? If BioWare's philosophy for hairstyles is "Shepard is military" then why even give us a choice of hairstyles? Why not just force a buzz cut on every custom Shepard? Heck, why not just force VanderShep on everyone and remove custom characters altogether if that's going to be their attitude?

Fact is, there is nothing wrong with any of the NPC hairstyles in those pictures that would disqualify them from being used on Cmdr. Shepard. if anything, I think the "messy" hairstyle in the first pic is more realistic. I doubt Shepard is going to spend 20 minutes combing and styling her hair before every mission, and it makes a bit more sense that her hair would be messy if it's shoved up in a helmet half the time.

BTW, I've got a friend in the National Guard and another who was in the Navy and both have hair at least as long as that in the last pic if not longer.

I'd understand not allowing these if they were major character hairstyles. Apart from Kelly's though, they are on incredibly minor characters. In the case of the bottom pic its just 1 conversation and later you kill her on Archangel's recruitment mission.

Makes no sense not to have these available on chargen. The only thing I can think of, is maybe adding options to the sliders would cause issues with importing faces from ME1 saves? I dunno. ME1 faces are so ugly I always redo them when importing anyway...

Especially when that one haircut (that DR. Chakwas has) is used all over the damn place.

I'm liking those hairstyles way better than the available Femshep choices. Shame us 360 users won't be able to get our pomade on and use 'em.

The thing about those is they look dirty/unprofessional/not Spectre like and all that. As one of the few constraints upon our Sheppard, Bioware keeps them looking professional and military, atleast in hairstyle.

Do these work on all types of heads?

And I think that slapping another character's hair on Shepard is kind of odd. Shepard should be fairly unique compared to other in-universe characters, and it may be odd if s/he shares hair with other characters.

I'm not against more hairstyles, I'm just not sure that this is ideal.
