Basically, they did it so you wouldn't walk around and see NPC's that looked like you.

That's idiotic, and if that was truly their intention then they failed hard. At least in ME1, every human female NPC shared the same 3 hairstyles as the player character. Now about 98% of them still do, but 2% have much better looking, unique hairstyles that Shepard can't have.

Shouldn't Shepard be the one with unique hairstyles, not the other way around?

Yeah, the hair choices were pretty much crap. I gotta say though, your femsheps look really amazing. Im quite jealous. Especially the top one. She's wicked hot.

Every character should just have a shaved head. Problem solved.

You know, that's actually a pretty good question.

It appears to be the latest fad in BioWare games.

Just so others don't waste their time: Don't add female hair to males. Half the time Shepard ends up with a messy skullet.

why do people think that just because they can find pc files that they should be applied to the player character? is it so impossible for people to understand and accept that certain haircuts or outfits are designed specifically for npcs -- or specifically not for Shep.

bioware created content to serve a purpose, you found the pc files and you have a completely different purpose for the content. your purpose != bioware's.

also this is a necro thread

So BioWare owns the files that I bought? That's great logic. I'm sure Securom would LOVE to have you as a new employee.

Bah, we'll eventually have a "Stylist DLC" which will give us more Shepard hairstyles, tatoos, and scars for the mere cost of 160 MP/BP

I think they look cool, but that hairstyle is rather... y'know, frou-frou. Bioware has stated a reluctance to include long hair on a Shepard because it would clash with Shep's military character.

I can see why they'd refrain from giving Shepard an attractive, windswept bedhead.

On a side note... man, Shep #1 is SMOKIN'.

Actually I believe the reason they don't is because the graphics engine in Mass Effect can't support long hair, that's why no one, even non-military civilians, have long hair in the game.

Maybe they just run out of... barbers... before anything for Shepard could have been finished?

You should look up APB, which runs on the same engine and has the most advanced character customization ever.

Shep just got brought back from the dead she's been MIA for 2 years i'd say long hair wouldn't be totally out of the question at that point.

I actually don't like either of the two hairstyles in the OP's example at all. There are, however, others that do pique my interest that are, unfortunately, unavailable for PCs.

Same with casual outfits. We need to put some pressure on Bioware to release a patch for these, or a "pack" via the Cerberus Network.

why would you suggest that bioware owns the fileS? i said that the game designers chose to make a game decision. just because gamers want haircuts that were designed for npcs doesn't mean Bioware is withholding content. they made a choice of what is for the player character and what is for npcs.

good lord man, please don't just make up random statements and quote me.

It is possible to get the npc-unique hairstyles on the 360. You just need to know how to mod your 360 files.

Actually I believe the reason they don't is because the graphics engine in Mass Effect can't support long hair, that's why no one, even non-military civilians, have long hair in the game.

And this is false.
