Why must the community rely on mods to add BioWare's OWN hairstyles to the game?

I just made my first FemShep today and really want the Nef hairstyle from the first picture. The second hairstyle looks nice too.

The new version of the save editor will work for 360 so you just have to wait a bit until you have access to all the "PC-exclusive" cool features.

But the thing is, Shep is not with the Military anymore
Good point! However, Bioware made the military statement, not I. I never said I agreed, I was just trying to defend their system, by their logic.
And, also, to play the devil's advocate (read as: Chris Priestly's advocate), you could argue that Shep COULD still be a Spectre, and might as well still be alliance. I'm pretty sure, canonically, Shep has no plans to STAY with Cerberus.
Not one of the people I know IRL who have been in the military grow out their hair.
They tell me that some habits stick with you, if only out of convenience. For Shepard, he/she wouldn't have to worry about getting hair caught while suiting up, can preserve personal hygiene better, can avoid hair-in-eyes syndrome, etc.
Just because s/he isn't in the military doesn't mean he doesn't still have reasons to keep his/her hair short(er).
I have been in the military but I have long hair now.
Though I certainly get your point that having shorter hair is lot more convenient.
But still, I think players should be able to have more hair options. Even though I wouldn't use those particular ones.

You have to be the biggest cigarette in the world to want those hairstyles on your SPACE MARINE character.
Half your crew looks like they earn their money on street corners. If you can live with a crack commando squad consisting of you, Miranda and Samara, then your *hair style* really should be the least of your issues.
And because somebody said something about clipping issues earlier. My stock pony tail goes right through my stock helmet. Not to mention that Shepard seems to be perfectly fine with ramming drinks and Liara's lips right through the faceplate.

Compare your human companions to Shepard or any other human NPC (there's a few like Joker and Kelly who are exempt from this), and there's a huge difference in quality. It's a real shame because the people made with the "face creator" really stand out.

Bah, we'll eventually have a "Stylist DLC" which will give us more Shepard hairstyles, tatoos, and scars for the mere cost of 160 MP/BP
and the sad thing is, I'd pay for that

Yes, because clearly the only people who might want a bit more variety in choice of hair for their fictional role-playing character are "cigarettes"...
Go smoke a dick, homophobe.

I think they look cool, but that hairstyle is rather... y'know, frou-frou. Bioware has stated a reluctance to include long hair on a Shepard because it would clash with Shep's military character.
I can see why they'd refrain from giving Shepard an attractive, windswept bedhead.
On a side note... man, Shep #1 is SMOKIN'.
Actually I believe the reason they don't is because the graphics engine in Mass Effect can't support long hair, that's why no one, even non-military civilians, have long hair in the game.
You should look up APB, which runs on the same engine and has the most advanced character customization ever.
It runs on Unreal?

Seriously, I will never understand the attitude some people have that giving those who want it more choice somehow negatively impacts their experience.

Which does nothing to change the fact that adding those options for people who like them in no way negatively impacts your experience, so I can only wonder why you feel it necessary to voice opposition to their inclusion.
I haven't gone to that webpage, but if they have a set of forums or a voting system, then they should pull their data about potential future hairstyles from that. They should spend their time putting in hairstyles that trend well, not catering to a few people that want to look like Jared Leto.
