I'm not sure how I fell about her being an Admiral. For one, she seems pretty keen about taking back the Quarian homeworld. Hell, no says my Shep, make peace with the Geth whom you tried to commit Genocide on.

On the other hand, she seems like on of the few people who acutally, you know, have a brain (freakin' council).

I'd rather have her in my party, though.

Bioware could just as easily (and I hope they do) incorporate ALL characters from ME1 and ME2 into ME3, and just lock out any that the player got killed.

They could, but they obviously won't. The real question is whether they won't to virtually invalidate the suicide mission by not including surviving ME2 squad mates in ME3 somehow, or delegating them to unimportant or small cameos. As ME3 is the last in the trilogy, they can go all out on the variables without worrying about how entangled the import feature would be. And that, as I've read, is what they intend to do - have much more branching plot lines and such.

Erm .. did we not just say the same thing?

i.e. that ME1/ME2 squadmates could return in ME3, but not for imported saves in which they died?

24 year-old admiral with only two years of covert-ops military experience, and likely even less command experience. i highly doubt that the hgihly traditional quarian people would ever stand for such a thing.

sure she receives a number of letters saying she should, but none of these are seriously proposals, more likely spur of the moment and heat of the situation driven than anything else.

They almost exiled her. They aren't just going to promote her to admiral.

You guys need to think this stuff out a bit.

Except if she isn't exiled she mentions that there's requests for her to fill her father's empty seat on the Admiralty Board.

There are also requests for Arnold schwarzeneggar to run for president.

It means little, especially since Tali very clearly voices her lack of interest in the idea, and all but jumps at the chance to be with Shep and the Normandy again.

I love Tali to bits. She is one of my favorite characters. But judging on the story of ME2 and the fact that she got such a big role in ME2 makes me think she will not have a squadmate role in ME3. She, like Wrex, will be taking on political duties in the Migrant Fleet. She will be able to be visited, and you can probably push the Peace/War with Geth storyline forward with her.

I think Admiral Tali has a great ring to it 8)

Hello,
Didn't think of that. Seems very realistic option. Wrex scenario. Her admiral with more dialogue choices, or another if she was exiled, depending on the choices you make at the trial (pro or anti war. Neutral will result in asking you to choose in ME3).

The admirals almost exiled her.

Getting her off the hook without revealing what her father was working on basically requires you to get the public firmly on your side.  At that point the admirals realize that doing anything to Tali will possibly get them lynched (it helps that they realize that Tali's just the substitute for their political maneuvering, and feel somewhat guilty about it).  But the key point is that Tali becomes publicly popular if you mount a skillful defense.  And I don't think that it's the admirals that choose who joins the admiralty board (particularly since if the admirals overrule the captains - as is their right - they're all supposed to resign, creating five simultaneous vacancies; obviously the admirals can't pick their replacements in that event).  So yes, Tali could in theory end up as her father's replacement on the admiralty board as it appears that getting picked for the job involves at least a certain amount of politics.

Having said that, however, iirc she indicates at one point that she's not really interested in the job.

It's not actually a good idea for her to become an admiral. Tali's a genius mechanic and engineer, but she lacks experience and leadership skills. The conversation with Kal'Reegar also implies she lacks insight into military realities, where she doesn't realize that the weak immune systems of the Quarians and the dependence on the suits will pose a significant problem in land campaigns whenever supply gets strained.

I agree, though I also suspect that Kal'Reegar could become an admiral, (if he survives).  He would definetely be a strong supporter of Sheperd, similar to how Captin Anderson is. Plus, as you pointed out, he would probably favor peace with the Geth. On the other hand, if you let him die, I can easily see a non-supportive war-favoring quarian admiral like Admiral Xen

Tali doesn't strike me as the Admiral kind. Maybe as an endgame sort of epilogue role or something she takes on during the final battle to support Shepard but overall? Eh, she can't even command the respect of the ground team she used on Freedoms Progress so how can she lead the fleet?

Tali the admiral might be a little hard to pull off if she gets exiled.

Exactly.  Bear in mind Shepard receives a Krogan breeding request as well.  Does that mean a love scene between SHepard and a Krogan in ME 3?!?!?!?

No

I want Tali in my party, I want Garrus in my party, I want Legion in my party, I want Grunt (Wrex is too occupied I understand) in my party, I want Samara in my party, I want Thane in my party, I want Kaiden/Ashley in my party, I want Liara in my party, I want Mordin in my party, I want Jack in my party, I want Miranda in my party, I want Jacob in my party

Practically everyone should be recruitable in ME3 since they're ending a trilogy and thus legacy. No **** footing and cameos if it can be helped.

YES!!!!

It kind seems like that is one of the possibilities that has been setup. Based on conversations aboard the Flotilla, I'd wager that WHO fills that empty spot will be factor in ME3.

Agreed or if she is a corpse on Haestrom.

I agree with the others though, there should definitly be an option for virtually all of the squaddies from the 2 games to be squaddies in 3, even the DLC ones (maybe give them more depth?)

I have a question for you all to ponder.

How many of the kill able squad members in ME1 came back as playable as playable squad members in ME2.

Here is my prediction. Seeing as all your squad mates are kill able they will all come back as NPCs in ME3. If they didn't bring the 3 or 4 that could die in ME1 back in ME2, do you honestly think they're going to bring back the 11 or so that could die in ME2?

If they did development would take too long. The only characters I can see being playable are Legion and Liara.

I think far too many people like her for Bioware to write her out of the squad. And i'm not sure how well it would go over for an Admiral to be romantically involved with a human. If you chose that romance option anyways. Or maybe its because I just can't see Garrus and Tali NOT being squadmates.

Again,  with this outcome, it makes people not even want to do the LI's in the game.  (And what if tali got banished in her loyalty mission? Cant be an admiral then can she?).

So you romance Tali, and she makes out like she would set fire to a planet for you, then shes like **** it I got **** to do.

So In my opinion its actually easier for them to make her a squadmate, as she can be a squadmate whether she got banished or not.

At least the lack of your LI in ME2 from ME1 as a squadmate semi makes sense you were dead for 2 years, **** happens.   Now I am assuming you dont die/disappear again  and again your LI just takes off, that applies to any LI not just Tali, it would be annoying.

Its just ridiculous to keep having these romance subplots, with both characters professing their undying love for eachother, only to just say "Aww thats just what we call pillow talk baby!" Basically all it is becoming is shep bones/gets boned by one of his/her squad mates and thats essentially all it is.  May as well cut out the actual romance part and change the dialogue to "wanna ****?"

I agree with the OP; it's a definate possibility.
The fact that she can die will likely mean that she gets a cameo in ME3 for those who kept her alive, and is replaced with a random quarian NPC for those who didn't.

Why? This is the last game in the trilogy, they can go all out. Neither you nor anyone else, save for Bioware, really knows how "likely" it is that surviving squad mates get cameos. In truth, it's more work creating new squad mates. Why would they cheapen the suicide mission and just make new squad mates?

You're right; it's all supposition at this point.

I'm just drawing conclusions based on what Bioware did with "killable" squadmates from ME1 to ME2.

I think that the continuity mechanic is one of the major selling points of Mass Effect; the fact that your choices matter in the following games is a big draw. I don't think Bioware would abandon this concept by allowing the player to recruit dead squadmates.

That to me would cheapen the sacrifices.

Bioware could just as easily (and I hope they do) incorporate ALL characters from ME1 and ME2 into ME3, and just lock out any that the player got killed.

...Or they could create new characters as "placeholders" for dead characters from an import.

Why do you all think in black and white?

They wont do that.  They are in effect creating 2 times the characters when only half will exist in game, thats full dialogue for an ass load of characters that have a 100% chance of not appearing in a playthrough.   They did do that with 1 squadmate essentially in ME2.  It would be a pain in the ass with 12.

What is far more likely is you have a default squad about the size of ME1's squadbase (made up of characters that obviously werent in a life/death situation yet) and the rest of your squad can be filled out by whichever characters they deem worthy of squadmates from ME2 if they survived.  That way they dont have to go through the work of creating doppelgangers for every damn character, which could water down dialogue quality.

On another note, to be honest I thought this was a troll thread, some people seem to love ****ting in the Tali lovers cereal.

I would be careful with trying to rain on the Tali parade, do you want to deal with all the I told ya so threads When miss vas Normandy makes her triumphant return as a squadmate in ME3?

Garrus is about the most perfect example, of why at least some ME2 squadmates have to make a return in ME3 as squadmates, if they lived.

Garrus has nothing outside Shep. His merc days are over having dealt with his loyalty quest. Shepard is the only person in the world he has any connection with.

After you get her back on the Normandy and talk to her she mentions something about people wanting her to be an admiral and what not. I think its highly likely Bioware would make her an admiral in ME3, if only to spite the more rabid half of her fanbase. If you're afraid though you can always get her exiled with the neutral choice so the only place she has to go is with Shepard. Thats what I did on an alternate save for this very reason. I like Tali, lame enough having to lose Wrex (though seeing him was nice, he seems happy).
