Every time I talk to someone, I crash. Every time I try to create a new character for a new game, I crash. The patch did nothing to fix any of this.

I expected bugs, but showstopper bugs at character creation? Are you kidding me?

As I understand it, you must accept an umbilical if you want to use various EA dlc.  It won't work for you without an active logged-on connection to them.  Did you log back off after getting the file involved?  If so, that's the problem.  Personally, I would reinstall the game without any such addition and request my dlc money back because the requirement to stay logged on is inconvenient for me and for many other gamers, and wasn't made adequately clear in advance.

I have an always-on connection, why would I log out of the game? And why would the game start up, load, but then crash only when I try to talk to someone? That makes no sense.



There is no way to get the money back, because this was the collectors edition. $65 for a coaster, it's clear Bioware has had a change of management since the days of NWN.
