Yes, I unstickied this wonderfully on-topic strategy thread. Feel free to direct your rage at me through PM.

(Incidentally, Vanguard Shepard vs. Asari Spectre = Ultimate Win.)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How could you do this to us?!?!?!?!?!?

Though this thread does get enough traffic to stay on the front page any way.

I'm confused is it not on-topic is why it got unstickied? It's still about Vanguard and builds and stuff yeah?

The thread is fine, they're just cutting down on stickies. Heck, two dev maintained threads have been unstickied in the last month.

My guess is that there is a thread now that lists strategy guides.  As sinosleep said... they are cutting down on stickies.  This way they can free up space of the front page.

Yeah just the way he worded it is what confused me. Hard to tell if it was sarcastic or just saying its getting unstickied for other reasons not related to topic heh. I tend to take a lot of stuff in text as sarcastic when its not ment to be. <_<

Yo, I said rage at me via PM. Discuss Vanguard tips and tricks here. And yes, I'm decluttering stickies as best I'm able.

Why do I feel the urge to say I charge at the darkness... >.>

As to Vanguard stuff, Sino you tried Area Charge for any extended period lately? I know Kronners been trying it out.

Going to need to start a new Vanguard to test out Stasis properly. I guss I don't reall need Shockwave, but I love it so much.

Does anyone here have any opinions regarding tier 3 Pull vs. Crippling Slam? I like to max out Inferno and Cryo Ammo so tier 3 Pull is the best I could get. Is Crippling Slam just as good? I've been trying out Slam with just one point in it and I can detonate it pretty well with a squadmates Warp. That's what I'd be using either of these powers for mostly anyway.

Heavy or Crippling Slam work great. When I had that power I almost never used pull, kept pull at 1 point. Only time I actually used it was to make a combo-slam to watch em bounce 10 meters into the sky after they hit the ground.

Going max on Inferno, Cryo, Charge, Passive and Slam with 1 point in Shockwave would work pretty damn well. I like having at least 1 in Shockwave for Husk Swarms. Toss it out stuns em - start bringing down there armor then Shockwave again auto-kills unarmored husks. Works nice.

-edit-
Also Crippling Slam will keep things out of combat for a rather looong time. About 2 seconds for the up and down motion then the additional time for one they're put into there 8 second coma thing.

Ok, it's official, I am 100% back on the claymore bandwagon. First merced the collector ship then I started my 3rd run through LotSB and holy friggen crap. Those engineers that annoyed the HELL out of me on my previous two playthroughs with my sentinel and infiltrator I didn't even have to put into stasis this time around. Charge, claymore, good night Irene.

I beg forgiveness to the shotgun gods for having abandoned this glorious, GLORIOUS, weapon on every playthrough since my first. I am sorry, it will never happen again. I now and forever worship at the temple of claymore.

haha nice to see more love for the Claymore. I love that beast.

After playing with Area Charge for quite a while, I found it to be effective, but not better against groups than Heavy version, it was pretty much the same. They are very comparable, and both viable, but I like time dilatation better than greater AoE, because the time dilatation is always useful, greater AoE is not.

That is a damn good reason to go with Heavy Charge. Been swapping between the two and I'm having a harder time picking what to go with for which Vanguard im using. Also having a hard time picking a bonus skill for my upcoming Vanguard who I consider my primary. Accidently deleted his save files when I got the Reaper IFF when I was making another char (intro takes so long if i screw up the face...just, guh).

So hard to decide but I want both to feel different from each other so I think the upcoming one is gonna be played more as a 'Tank' So Champion and Heavy Charge. Current one I'm using Destroyer and Area. At a loss for what power to use, I like stasis but don't want it on both heh.

About the bonus power, I have three favourites - Heavy/Crippling Slam (short cooldown, cool effect, can lead to Warp explosion), Heavy Warp Ammo (to boost SMG/AR/SR damage for mid-range combat when Charge is not available) and now Stasis (to make Collectors fall from platforms or to finish off big enemy).

edit: and Dominate can be fun at times too!

Yeah I really like Slam, always have. Stasis is nice but I don't want it on the next one since ive been using it non-stop on this guy (though messing with the builds on him to pick one for next play through). Was considering Warp Ammo, Reave and Slam again. Testing Reave out now, mostly because I wanna know how much HP it gives. I've used it before, a lot actually on an Adept once but didn't know HP/Shields NEVER change based off lvl. Now that I know there's a static 200 base HP all % work off of it'll be bit more easy to figure out.

Now with Warp Ammo my current build would change, currently its.
Inferno 4 - Use it on my Mattoc
Cryo 3 - Use it on Shotgun (I know, not squad)
Heavy Charge
Shockwave 2 - (this things great at 1 point for husks, 2 just that much better)
Pull 1 - (great 1 pointer skill)
Champion 4
Bonus 4

So if I went Warp Ammo I'd end up dumping Inferno to 2 which would free up a ton of points. Could go full Squad Cryo I guess. Would have 3 points left over, would toss that into Shockwave. Actually that may work out rather nicely.

-re-edit-
*had a lot of math babble here with confusion to how Reave HP bonus worked, replaced with text below*
Figured out Reave HP thing looks like its 40 * duration (with %bonuses) then cause its Insanity its reduced by 20%. So 40*5.4*0.8 = 172.8 add that to the 200 base and THEN add on any %hp you have. I'm getting 559 in game and the maths supporting that. Does not increase due to area reave and getting multiple targets so I think I'd get more HP with the single target Reave. Glad I figured that out, was driving me crazy.

Im thinking about downgrade Incendiary Ammo to level3 for Squad Warp ammo. With the eviscerator or the claymore its still enough for one shot kill in most cases...

edit: tried the suicide mission yesterday with that build and it worked lovely...

Squad Warp Ammo? Why? I would understand Heavy Warp Ammo to boost your damage with other weapons than shotgun. But since you have squad Cryo, squad Warp seems redundant..it is only better against Harbinger and heavily armored enemies like Scions and Praetorian.

Becouse on missions against collectors im not forced to bring squadmates with warp or im not forced to use Jack for squad warp ammo. It gives a much bigger freedom in squad selection... I also tried heavy warp, but didnt really notice i needed less shots with it.

Im not sure ill stick with this build tough, becouse its only 3-4 missions were i can benefit from Warp ammo and the Vanguard is a killing machine with or without it ... (I have incendiery vs armor) I dont want AP ammo since its redundant, and dont really gives much bonus compared to Incendiary. Reave removes any kind of challange from the game and becouse its long cooldown it makes my Vanguard sitting behind cover, instead of charging and playing agressive. Barrier or GSB could be fine too, but again long cooldown... Maybe Vanguard is fine as it is and doesnt need bonus power....

Cryo is better against common Collectors, squadmates remove their defenses and freeze (enemies also take 2x the damage when frozen) them. That is usually better than extra damage against barrier and health. Slam is very good bonus power - it enables Warp explosions and does not interfere with Charge - check out this awesome video by m14567.

Oh wow. The instant hit of slam makes warp detonations very fluid.
