@ RedCaesar, thanks for that link to Cryoguard. Interesting stuff on that thread, especially the bit about using statues as cover. Will have to try that.

Vanguard w/ Claymore can go toe to toe with most anything after it is leveled up and has a few upgrades.
Also when you get close to the Colossus it has a hard time targeting you. If you can keep it spinning you can do that with a couple other classes, but it is difficult.

Indeed, Kronner1 is my hero. But one thing I've never understood about that vid is where all the continuously respawning mooks are. Are they just stuck over in the other part of the map bypassed by the first charge?

I keep having an annoying issue with charge. Sometimes Shep just won't charge at enemies. I've accepted the fact that glass and platforms of varying height, are taboo with charge. However; a lot of times, charge just flat out doesn't fire.
I think I've noticed that if my back is against a wall, or a squad member is making contact with my arse/backside(they're probably trying to get fresh and cop a feel, everyone wants a piece O'Shepard), charge seems to fail.
I'm running on a PC and do notice that I am 'able' to charge a target, as per the 'tell' you get if you issue commands while holding shift key. Game says I'm good to go, but then sometimes charge doesn't happen. When this happends, Shep will glow blue, stand still, and often die shortly thereafter(exclusively play insanity mode now)
Tried reading through this thread for insight, but alas 104 pages is a pain for even those of us who don't have ADHD/ADD.
The last time this happened a geth was 4feet in front of me, on the same platform, nothing between us, I was low on health, and...blech...critical mission failure screen. Shep failed to preform, not once but twice (confirmed that target 'could' be attacked via shift key command issuance.
So...Anyone know if 'this is just the way it is' or am I missing something?
P.S. talken bout ME2.

Yes Charge in ME2 is whonky sometimes. As you say, intervening cover can prevent you from charging, and if there is something in between Shepard's back and the camera it often doesn't work.
