That guy actually hasn't played ME2, you can see in the thread he posted about "The Good and the Bad" or something.

Anyway I want to see more videos!!! I don't care if they don't show anything new. I still want to see vanguard crushing blue suns, and working garrus recruit mission.

Man, I wish I had FRAPS when I started my Vanguard instead of getting it right before I finished it.  I'll be recreating my Vanguard soon and will try and post some unique videos. Though, I don't think I can top the uniqueness of Charging the Colossus...  Those vids are always awesome.  Like the little brave mouse attacking the slow cat.

When I get home I'm going to post a vid from the N7 blue suns missions where you have to fight the two ymir mechs in the open followed by a blue suns commander and like 5 underlings. I really should have posted that this morning.

I told her as soon as she wrote it I was going to forced to add that to my sig. :)

Was that in e-mail, or on in a thread?  From the inflection I can tell you asking about some power or another and she was like, "Fix it?  Screw you, I'm trying to break stuff to make it harder for you."  Watch when ME3 comes out, it'll be Casual, Normal, Veteran, Hardcore, Insanity, Sinosleep.

Just curious, how many shield can a lv 30 vanguard get? (at most)

I'm a lv 30 vanguard now, and I choose barrier as a bonus skill. I trained it to lv 4, and with the Collectors armor, I get 600 pts in my shield. Is that the most I can get??

Thx.

Ok, so if you go waaaaaay back to pages 2 and 3 and on...  there is "The Great Shields Debate."  It's actually going on at the same time as "The Great Shotgun" debate.

I don't have the Collector armor, though I think it looks really cool, so I don't know the bonuses it gives you.

I started playing Vanguard recently i think i love it more than Cosmic Brownies.

It fits my regular play style in shooters, get in yoru face and blow your face off.

I love it because it's the most challenging class for me right now but its the most rewarding.

I leveled my class first, and im about to max out heavy charge, then what should i go after that?

And whats the consensus on the best shotgun on Veteran? then Hardcore?

The Vanguard was definitely challenging for me since I felt as though it played completely differently in this game than it did in the first.

I did find it to be more and more rewarding towards the end of the game.

My biggest issue was using the shotgun. The small ammo capacity, the reload animation, and using it all in concert with Biotic Charge really created a learning curve for me.

Still, totally fun. Now I'm going through the game with an Adept, and I have another career that I just started using the Sentinel.

When did you start picking Reave as your bonus?  And have you been picking the Vindicator from the ship or sticking with the Claymore?  It seems like you've been commenting about liking the Scimitar quite a bit, so that would kind of make the Claymore redundant except on elites or higher wouldn't it?

After Charge and Assault are maxed out, I tend to go straight for Ammo, but on Veteran you may want to invest a few points in Shockwave and at least one point in Pull.  They get a lot more mileage on the lower difficulties and Pull's cool-down is only 3s.

Shotguns operate the same and are generally all equally effective on any difficulty.  It's all about preference, however:

On Veteran and below you won't run into that many enemies with defenses which makes the Assault shotgun's rate of fire very appealing.  Go to page 2 of the thread for the shotgun debate to learn more.

Edit: By operate the same, I mean regardless of difficulty, the Evi is the Evi and the Scim is the Scim.
2nd Edit:  Yeah, per Dannok1234, the Shotgun Debate gets good around page 15.  It was a long debate, no need to start you at the beginning.

It might just be me but it seems like a lot of the epic speed run/destroy all videos that you see out there, people are using the Scimitar.

Personally, I never really enjoyed using the Claymore. I had a much better time using the Eviscerator.

There are some numbers/timelines on page 15 I think it is. Basically all the shotguns kill stuff and move on to the next in about the same speed(Millisecond differences at most). If you have mastered the fast reload on the claymore it will be slightly better then the others, but only a little. It's all down to which you like. (I'm sticking to my beloved Scimitar)

As for bonus powers, it doesn't really matter at all. I'd say 3 abilities are key. Heavy Charge, Champion and Inferno ammo (It's simply too good against organics to pass up). Any skills you take beyond those 3 is just "extra's". I tend to swap between area reave and having 1 point in barrier (So I can take squad cryo) depending on my mood. Both are generally used in the same situation, which is when you can't charge.(Or you feel like playing it safe) I don't really think it matters all that much in the end. It's all about what you enjoy and find fun once you have the main ones covered.

From my experience, the Scimitar isn't a very good choice, especially for insanity..

While it has the fastest rate of fire, the damage is pitiful.  Remember, the longer you spend killing one enemy, the more opportunities you give his buddies to shoot you in the back when you're not looking.

Thats what the danger is when using the Scimitar on insanity.

With the Claymore, it's usually one or two shots (plus maybe a melee) to kill the majority of enemies, which means you spend less time out in the open and thus your survivability is increased..

I might do a FRAPS run later on insanity to show you just how potent the Claymore can be..

I too prefer Claymore (which is by far the best shotgun /in terms of DPS at least/ assuming you mastered the reload trick), but Scimitar and Evi are both just fine.

Yep!

And if anyone wants to see the reload trick put to good use, watch this video:

That isn't enterily accurate. Using shoot+melee combo you will stunlock most enemies on insanity or any other difficulty. The difference in killing one enemy and going on to the next one with the scimitar is the same as for the Evi. Difference is that you take more shots. (so if you miss it's far far safer weapon).
The Claymore is only better when you do the reload trick, if you do not, you'll kill more enemies faster with the Scimitar then with the claymore. (shooting next enemy at 1.2 seconds after first shot, rather then 2 seconds.)

I'll maintain that the Scimitar is the most forgiving and safest choice for insanity. The claymore only becomes better if your doing the trick every single time. Page 15 people.. page 15. Lots of good info.

Not entirely accurate, I bet you anything I can kill faster with Claymore than with Scimitar in almost every situation while NOT using reload trick all the time.
By the time you kill ordinary foe with Scimitar (2 shots + maybe melee) I will have already killed him and have another shot waiting. Stats are nice but in the game Scimitar is far worse than properly used Claymore or Evi, at least in my experience. Another thing to think about is that with Claymore you one-shot ordinary foe and can take cover immedietaly, with Scimitar you are exposed for longer time. Not to mention it just feels awesome to wield a one-shotting monster

edit:
Also, on 15th page you say Claymore does 400dmg, when in fact perfect shot does 800 damage (8 pellets, 50 damage each, this whole x2 for melee range bonus) and that is without any upgrades and without headshot bonus and your armor bonuses etc.
I think its safe to say perfect Claymore shot does easily over 1000dmg.
Scimitar cannot match this damage output.
