yeah sinosleep I picked a claymore and didnt like it that much compared to the eviscerator so if I were to go through again I would pick up a sniper. Makes dealing with those mechs alot easier.

I just use SMG for Shields pistol/shotgun for armor and spam the overload.  Trick is you need to get one down ASAP once it is 1v1 you can just circle around some tall cover and the mech cant even touch you

I had a lot of trouble with that when I first tried it... (the beer might have played a bit of a role in that). I just couldn't do it. I got them both once and after killing a few peons did a reckless charge and got splattered. So I gave up after over 10 attempts...

The next day I cleared it on my first attempt. No sniper though, just my good pal the Claymore, some overloads and some warps. Damn that felt good

yea I remember that room. you need to hang back and kill the first Verran and all the Vorcha. Then move forward. Once you kill the whole room, only 2 guys at a time come out the shutter door. It's easy enough to hold them off while the shutter closes.

Glad the thread was a help to you.  This, and Average Gatsby's, are the only 2 threads that really dig into the classes and have lasted.  Plus, we've all remained civil in here, which I want to thank everyone for.  A big Kudos to all the guys that have been regulars because they've really added a lot of info and insight into the class.

Indeed! I usually stay away from most forums because they just seem to bring out the stupid in everyone. I've also been following Gatsby's too... I actually respecced my vanguard after watching his videos to play around with biotic combos. Really threw myself off for a while. But you know, there are just some cases where a charge is certain death, so now I just go all biotic on their asses and explode them with my brain!

i really want to get grunt loyal ASAP, ive got his shotgun, but i havent got any of the other characters, thing being, if i get grunt loyal, and have his ability maxed out, with that shotty of his, he can sit in the middle of the field blasting away, any thoughts on who i should take for his loyalty mission, and should i get them loyal first?

@ Devine Flame found an old save file with a level 6 vanguard at Garrus' recruitment mission. It's an old, and bad build, Jacob isn't high enough level to have squad incendiary ammo, and I'm using the katana lol. Vid will be up shortly.

Great guides and tips everyone. I loved the Vanguard, but was close to quiting since my gunfu skills were not very good. But with all the tips here I have improved enough to get through it on hardcore. Now I guess ill have to try insanity.



BTW I love the Squad Cryo Ammo trick.

I love the sequence skipping powers of the vanguard. Sure, infiltrators are capable of turning on their cloaks and making mad dashes, but nothing beats charging to the back end of enemy lines and completely avoiding most of combat. I can beat Mordin's loyalty mission between 5-10 minutes doing so.

I think it's obvious which class will be used for speed runs.

Damn it, I've uploaded the video like 3 damned times and youtube keeps doubling the length on them all. I noticed all of my HD vids bar one have the same problem. I don't know why this keeps happening considering I haven't changed the output settings on my converter in any way.

Sinosleep if you can't get it uploaded no biggie. I'm gonna try it again tonight after i'm off work and see what happens. If you get the vid up great if not i'm not too worried about it. I adapt pretty fast in most cases so based on all my deaths i'm pretty close to getting it down lol.

@sarah anan: i think he means having squad cryo activated then switching to inferno, so you have inferno while your squaddies have cryo.

And as Kurupt87 said, it's not so much a trick, but once Squad Cryo is on, you can switch to any other -non-Squad- ammo power and they'll keep Cryo.

I should have said strat instead of trick. It did help alot on many of the encounters. I suck at shooters and having my butt saved by many of them contantly getting frozen was a welcome change.

that is hard for vanguards no doubt, but if you bring the cain and aim between all three, that should get rid of the nearer 2's shields leaving you with only armour to kill. so bring along armour strippers and you should be ok.
