Nice video. I was super confused why it kept restarting. But I see you just played it a bunch of times.

Ok, it's video time! I've become a HUGE fan of the Claymore, but I definitely agree that you need to use the reload trick. I was doing Mordin's loyalty mission yesterday and had so much fun killing the Krogan boss that I just had to do it over a few times and get it on video. Here it is.

www.youtube.com/watch

I've been using squad cryo and inferno for the whole game and I've never even had the urge to try anything else. As for bonus power... I have reave, but never really use it. I've tried a few others, but reave has come in handy a few times where charging isn't really an option. In other words, you just don't really need a bonus. I'm thinking about trying slam though, can get some nice warp combos with that. Pull too, but at least if the combo doesn't work for whatever reason slam hurts more and disables them.

Anyway, my first video. Yaay!

Edit: Is it just me or is the post editor a little flakey? Maybe just if you're using Chrome?

That video has Squad Cryo win all over it.  Very smooth.

Thanks! No really, I probably wouldn't be using it if not for this thread :)

Hell, I probably wouldn't even have started a Vanguard...

How exactly do you do the claymore reload trick?

It's easiest to just hold down the fire button, and tap melee when you hear the reload noise.

Holding down fire make it quite a bit easier. I do it visually as well as by sound. Quite often there's just so much going on that you can't always hear it. It's a split second after Shep raises it up for the reload. Also, now that I have the timing down, I just kinda do it subconsciously. I have the timing of the gunshot sounds in my head (which you can pretty much always hear as opposed to the reload click), so I just know when to hit melee to make it happen again.

I have another video processing where I do it a lot more. It's a huge upload though. It'll be a while.

I dunno squad is the way to go, especially on the Collector based missions. Having inferno ammo on the Claymore worked wonders for me, especially since its gives you something like a 70% damage bonus. Harbinger goes down in two hits. Vanguard was fairly easy, but you have to be conservative with biotic charge, if you charge into the wrong place you will be surrounded and die instantly. Its a wonderful ability when the enemy squad is separated from each other and you can dash to far corners to take them out one by one.

What armor should be used before being able to afford the decent customized stuff?

ive just gotten near the end of escaping the colletor ship....no claymore though :( cant pick it up....got the AR on my first run through, had to spend ages trying to figure out the first battle of that mission, resorted to the blackstorm(no cain Posted Image yet ) worked quite well....ended up fighting off 2 scions, a harbinger, and about 10 drones on my own, on insanity, because the scions kept decimating my team mates....had to kill harbinger everynow and then too...he came too close...but, close enough to negate the plat. to plat. charge bug, so i could let rip with charge and the scimitar

personally, i tend to ignore the armour upgrades....i spend more time upgrading weapons, tech, and my biotics, armour comes last, with the exception of medi-gel upgrades, if i can do it with sod all armour...i can do anything :D

My squadmates also always get ripped to shreds by the Scions at this point.  Does anyone have any tips for boosting their survivability?

The platforms can be crazy. There was a while where all we were doing was trying to figure out the best way to beat the platforms, hence all the vids. I always make them take cover right there where they spawn and they survive.

BTW, good job Harley. I depend quite a bit on my Squaddies on that part, so congrats on doing it solo.

Take cover at the narrow ends of the barricades. Own scions, then collectors, then harbinger. If need to move and take too much fire, kill collectors; they die pretty fast.  Switch to harbinger earlier if he becomes too troublesome

I brought Miranda and Mordin while forgetting his omni-tool upgrade and they owned. Dual SMG to strip barriers and dual nuke armor

EDIT Actually it was Miranda and Thane dual warp dual smg on the collector ship.  Was thinking of Horizon

THANKS :D took me a few attempts, but i found, if you have the blackstorm, everytime a new platform comes, land a big ol' blob right in the centre of it....it does MOST of the hard work for you...and so long as u can keep a harbinger on low armour, and at a distance, you stand a fighting chance, once i cleared all the drones etc. out, i set to work on the scions, just went back to the 'spawn' and chipped away at them with reave and my AR/hand cannon pistol, slow, but effective Posted Image

Do you guys prefer your squadmates like miranda and thane using heavy or unstable warp? Which one is better to do warp explosions with pull?

Is the Eviscerator a better option that the Claymore?

That all depends on what you prefer, it's different.

I like the eviscerator's higher heat clip capacity, but everyone seems to say the damage from the claymore is better regardless Posted Image

I don't think there is a definitive answer to that. Personally, I absolutely love the Claymore. I'm not entirely sure what it is, but if I take another gun on a mission it just doesn't feel right. I don't feel safe. Or something...

It really comes down to how you play and what works for you. I started the game with the Evi and had a ton of fun with it, but after getting the Claymore I never turned back. That said, I still tend to prefer the Scimitar for fighting Geth. To me it just seems right. I say play around with all of them until you find the one that tickles your insides like the Claymore does for me.

claymore is more damamging, but, the eviscerator is the better option IF you want a different bonus weapon, like me, i chose the AR on the collector ship, and use it to my advantage, sure, i cant one shot most enemies with a shotgun to the face, but that doesnt matter, i can strip their shileds and barriers from a distance, then fly in and shotgun them like a good vanguard should, it all depends on your play style, what is right for me, or for nexolek, may not be right for anyone else, like pull, i dont have it, let alone use it, i have shockwave(1) and heavy reave, i just find it more useful like that, shockwave is just enough to budge them out of cover to get my squad freezing/killing them, then i can charge in, if i pulled them, id have to wait for the cooldown, and for them to land... not much of a problem, but when they land in a group of enemies, it kinda screws up the pla of charging them, for me anyway. the only way to tell what is better for you, is to experiment, we can guide you as they did with me, but at the end of the day, only you can tell which guns and powers are best for you

Slightly Cinematic Garrus Recruitment Montage xbox360

I wanted to contribute something from an xbox player's view since I dont think there's any yet. Garrus' mission from what I understand can be sort of tough at the shutters for some people so I set this video up to show my general strategy for each area as well as letting the area with the shutters play out completely. For this vid I'm level 6, using the terminus gear (mostly because its bad ass), and the eviscerator shotgun.

It is captured externally, but I set the camera up to encompass the whole screen. Itd be great if I could figure out how to hook my laptop up to capture directly :pinched:. I'll probably do a similar video for horizon, collector ship, etc. and anything else anyone would want to see granted I'm not past there by the time it's requested.
