I put together a Vanguard vs Husks video since its something no one has done yet for some reason. I did not use the standard Area Reave/Incinerate Blast followed by Shockwave/Pull Field, because thats just too easy :o

Well done.  Adding to OP.  Squad Cryo for the sure win.

I'm only going to keep an eye on that thread for rabbit channel. I would LOVE to hear what it is about my play that makes it "full of holes".

I ventured to the Open Forums, once, and only once, on an adept thread. And I thought the ones here were rough.

Also, I like how they are pretty much having the same debate we did about 3 weeks late. Except with about a Billion Times more trolling and whining and not reading.

I have more ammo for people still against squad cryo. It seems that when an enemy is effected by biotics or frozen the AI gets amazing accuracy on that enemy and tears it apart. This is on top of the double damage boost of course. I could be wrong but it just seems the AI gets smarter when shooting at disabled enemies. Can anyone confirm this?

I don't have hard facts about this, but I've seen it.  They get real aggressive all the sudden and their aim gets spot on.  I made a video for my Controlling the Battlefield guide, used a lot of Pulling, and Jacob and Zaeed just starting killing them...  not extremely Vanguard related, but since you do have access to Pull and Cryo, it should be noted.

Can't really blame them, we are on the cutting edge when it comes to making Mass Effect 2 too easy thus ruining it for ourselves, they are still rubbing stones together.

On a side note I changed the video title to give squad cryo its props.

I'll toss my 2 cents in on the AI's getting all giddy at frozen targets... I'm doin up my sentinel videos with some focus on Cryo blast (heh against husks) and I don't even get a chance to hit 'em before they're shattering in my face. Normally my squadmates are like "AHHHH HUSKS!" <dead>

Great post, Stoik.  Looks like another happy customer.  I feel the same way about funnest playthrough on either Mass Effect.  So much awesomeness.

In regards to the armor, if you melee half as much as the rest of us, get the melee shoulder pads.  Aside from that, since you already beat it, you're good enough to wear what looks best to you.

I tend to melee after every shot with the Evi and every second shot with the Scimitar, but by that time most enemies are basically dead. I probably should be wearing the 25% shoulders so I can kill a little bit quicker, but I've become attached to the red stripe on my right arm...for some reason.

I'm going to start the IFF mission in a few minutes. Husks annoy me more than almost any other enemy (Pyro's hiding around corners and Harbinger being others), so we'll see how I handle them this time.

So far my run is at 36 hours with about 3 or 4 left to go. It's probably a little long, but I like to take my time and enjoy the atmosphere of the best game I've ever played so I do every mission, listen to every conversation, and sometimes just stare out of space station windows at the stars outside. Even so, this run was about 10 hours faster than my Soldier and 15 faster than my first crappy Vanguard. Some of that may have been pause screens, but there is a big difference between how a bull rushing Vanguard handles a fight and how a patient Soldier or a crappy Vanguard handles it.

On a side note, where the hell is Conrad Verner? I don't quite remember what I did to him in the first game, but my character was a goody-two-shoes so I'm pretty sure I took the paragon route. I just can't find the guy anywhere.

he is in the bar on illium, if you don't see him then you didn't complete his quest in ME1.

if paragon he doesnt appear. theres a message on illium or somewhere else about his actions (never heard them myself though), but verner tends to be wrongly imported - f.e. for each of 3 my sheps. (renegade instead of paragon)

Want to say thanks to this thread: squad cryo + ap ammo = ownage. It makes the lower levels much more practical to run through.

I just want to say that I went to the omega market (where mass effect wiki says the 25% melee shoulders are) and tried to find them but no luck. They're missing! Do they show up later because I went there to grab them and the headshot visor before my first recruitment mission (Mordin).

Anybody else having this problem?

I noticed that those shoulders don't show up early in the game. I think they were in the shop after I completed the Collector Ship mission. Try again a bit later, I think.

Hmm. Just finished my own Vanguard Insanity run through, and looks like I used a totally different tactic to most other Vanguards.

I was probably put off early by near insta gibs against me in the low levels, so played much more cautiously than others.

Shotgun was relegated to backup weapon when enemies closed on me (m22a-Evic), Tempest Machine pistol set with Squad Incendiary was my waepon of choice. Obliterate enemy shields quickly, then hit with a Incendiary shot to the head, Reave or if grouped Shockwave. The idea was to strip them of protection then keep all the enemies danging around so they could be safely picked off.

Squad mates were Mordin and Zaeed, for Incinerate, Inferno Grenades and Squad Disruptor Ammo.

Could be argued I was hardly using Vanguard powers at all. True enough, but I had Heavy Charge for the simple expedient of being another way to diasble unshielded opponents, and more often a one click refresh of my shields.

Might have taken me longer overall than others, their style seems faster. Was ~42 hours for a complete playthrough (all chars loyal, all side quests completed).

Anyway, just goes to show you there's more than one way to skin a Krogan...

I actually did use the incendiary/area reave for a while and though it wasn't perfect it did work. Incendiary was a DOT type attack and did damage versus armor. Still, it was tough and I couldn't get passed Garrus's mission where you close the shutters and fight the bloodpack.

They just didn't drop fast enough.

So, came on here, and yeah - definitely hesitant about trying the whole squad cryo/ap ammo thing but I'm so happy I did.

Seriously? The Whiney "omg vanguards are broke!" thread is still on page one, but this one gets bumped to 2?

Those people have closed their minds. They had a bad time and it soiled their experience. They argue ME2 vanguards are worse than ME1? Maybe, but they are so much more fun and distinctive.

Seriously guys. Gatsby, and Thisisme, and Sinosleep. One of you need to apply for a youtube director account (it's free) then you can post LOOOONG videos. Like hours long. I want to see ENTIRE MISSIONS, I want to see the whole game "pro-gamed."

They'd all still call HAX.  If anyone though, Average Gatsby for sure.  His guides are usually right at 10 minutes.

I don't care if they call hax! I just don't want to watch 20 segments when I could jsut watch one. Also it would just been awesome to see one seamless run.

come on now, lets face it, anyone who cant cope with the class is gunna hate and flame it, they dont have to play as a vanguard, they dont HAVE to die loads of times, have a hissy fit, and then childlishly say the class is broken....no...they just suck, stop playing vanguard...simple! i know im nowhere near the best player at vanguard...im more a gears 2 pro when i play for keeps, but, if someone beats me, or i die, its not OMG HAX, if someone can genuinly do something better, good for them, its no loss to me...its just a game, i just dont understand why kids these days think its acceptable to throw all their toys out of the pram, just because theres a particular thing they cant do!

To be fair, the ME2 VG IS worse than the ME1 VG. The ME1 VG was an utterly untouchable God.

I think a lot of people get upset initially when they come from ME1, go to ME2, play Vanguard, and suddenly find themselves dying 380 times per level. I imported my VG as a VG into ME2, and quit playing right after Garrus' mission, since I wasn't having any fun at all.

Rerolled a Sentinel and had a much better time.

A VG takes a lot of getting used to. :)

Well, I do have 1 complete mission up, the Garrus loyalty mission. You can do a lot of missions in under 10 minutes, the biggest problem for me is hard drive space to be honest. When a 10 minute video runs upwards of 5 gigs it's an issue. I guess I could start deleting unnecessary things, but it;s a pain to go through all the stuff I have and start deleting.

sinosleep, do you know why casting warp on collectors causes a warp explosion if they have shields up? and why it causes a warp explosion always on harbingers?

Sabresandiego, that doesn't happen in my game. Are you sure thats whats going on? Are enemies near those flying in all directions and taking heavy damage?
