Hmmm... manly men have more than stubble and have been known to no-scope Collectors from time to time.

I almost always no-scope collectors, although with Claymore so I don't think that counts...

I did no-scope a Blue suns pyro on another playthrough with the Viper, as I couldn't remember whether my Eviscerators Heatsink was over capacity, the pyro was not fortunate(heh).

Thought I would die but due to my squads cryo, he froze.

Have tried to re-do it but I just don't get lucky with the cryo again.

A More charge heavy version of the first part of the suicide run. Finished in much quicker time than the first vid, was also more fun. Sure, it's less variety, but charge really gets my blood pumping.

Quick question does charge restore full shields or just base shields? I've been playing on insanity and near the end of my game where I have all the upgrades and what not, when I use heavy charge my shields are only restored to 60 - 70%. Maybe I'm just being shot as their recharging but I don't know thats why I'm asking.

Also do you think it'd be better to have my squadmates use heavy or unstable warp?

I'm pretty sure that Charge fully restores your shields AND provides a shield bonus as well.

As for warp, I prefer Unstable Warp on my squadmates to make each Warp Explosion affect more enemies but I don't think it matters too much which one you choose.

I think charge only applies to the base shields, which is like 250 or something.

Great video man.  All of the different charges were enough of a variety for me. =)

Last night, a buddy of mine came over who played through the game as a Soldier.  I showed him the Suicide Run on Insanity with my Vanguard...his mouth was hanging open so wide I think he got drool on my couch.  He was totally amazed/shocked.  He said, "My God this is so intense."  And hell, he was just watching.

Needless to say, he's a believer in Vanguard now. =)

Off Topic, but doesn't this sound like the Vanguard motto

My hearts beatin, My hearts beatin, my hands are shakin, my hands are shakin

BUT IM STILL SHOOTING!! AND IM STILL GETTING HEAD SHOTS...

ITS LIKE BOOM HEAD SHOT... BOOM HEAD SHOT!! BOOM HEADSHOT

From FPS Doug, i was just watching it and it made me think of this.

Right on! There should be a lot less confusion in the Vanguard world now.

So I wanted to submit this (I do have a secret Vanguard character) to hopefully clear up a bunch of new-vanguard-player confusion

Vanguard Charging 101

I chose mordin's mission at lvl 5 because I figured it would be a section with a lot of different enemies and is challenging because its pre-heavy charge and accelerated cooldown.

I'm playing hardcore/veteren as a femshep vanguard, and it's nailing my butt. This vid'll be a huge help :D

Had a secret Vanguard all this time, eh?  It's good to see a video that does the one thing that's been missing here:  Narrative guide to Charging.

Well done Average Gatsby.

You may want to note in there that the only times your Charge didn't work was because they went back into cover.  That seems to be one of the biggest Vanguard bug/misconceptions.  You'll never Charge when enemies duck into cover.  Most people believe it's a bug, I think it's intended as to preemptively avoid clipping issues.

Anyway, I'd like to see some more.

That makes sense. I think I may annotate that in, since that was a live play I didn't get to go back and analyze the fight. Also is there an armor consensus anywhere back on these pages? I don't think I saw a very extensive collection, but I'd have to say I was really digging the cerberus armor.

Very nice video as usual Gatsby, a bit conservative but really useful to beginners.

Also for anyone thats played the game through once and have the 25% xp bonus, it's possible to be level 7 at that point in the game, giving you Heavy Charge but not much in the way of cool down reduction.

Early on the Cerberus armor can help with its 10% health and armor boost.  Later in the game you can build a better N7 armor set once everything "opens up."

For sure with the Vanguard, the melee shoulders are a must, unless you just hate melee and stick with the Scimitar (Fires fast enough to not really need melee).  Depending on your own survivability you may want to go with +shields or health.  Honestly though, as much as I hate to admit it, aside from the visor and melee shoulders, I can't tell any difference in any of the armor pieces.  With the Claymore/Evi and visor, I notice a slight boost in headshot damage, but my current Vanguard is testing Area Charge out for the fun of it and I just don't have the time to consistently line up those headshots without slow-mo.  Sooooooo, I just take what looks cool.

Actually I'd advice that you should always melee with the scimitar, saves you over half a second since you can fire one less shot, doesn't slow down your shot cycle.

Yeah, I still melee with the Scim too. Saves ammo if nothing else. Just pointing that out for those that have a phobia of pressing the f

If you have extra mouse buttons, putting melee on one of them isn't a bad idea. I have charge on a mouse button as well.

Anyone here play a soldier to completion? My first character was a soldier, I've been playing my soldier in insanity NG+ and it just doesnt compare to the vanguard for me. Anyone else feel the same? Its a powerful class, its just not as fun as vanguard.

That's because nothing is as fun as the Vanguard.
