I'll still maintain that it's not a new way to use a vanguard nor is it the powers but the player that matters most of all in those speed run videos, I'd actually really like to see one done with just charge and shotgun. I personally can't get it much lower then 3:20ish the funny thing is I get pretty much the same time regardless of using squad powers or not.
A few words of warning in general to anyone that are considering going from Scimitar to Evi. It's damn hard to go back! That long range, armor busting goodness is really hard to give up once you get used to it and the precision the Evi needs to equal the Scimitar. Which annoys me, because I really really liked the Scimitar

Just being honest here, not trying to be a dick. The only thing I think is wrong with your playstyle is it won't work as well on the many blue shield enemies. That's why I keep saying make an energy drain video. No one has done that as far as I can tell. Although that playstyle may stink against Geth since they have such strong shields. Depends if you can knock out a shield in one area energy drain. I'm sure it will tear apart blue suns.
My playstyle is more about using the best option available rather than using a single ability. I will make a blue sun video this weekend. The thing I dont like about energy drain is that it is too specialized and I dont like to redo my talent points for a single mission. Miranda or Garrus area overload is more than enough to eat through blue shields, not to mention that shotguns do particularly high damage to shields and the scimitar is my preferred method of defense stripping.

I would like to see this 3:20 video with only shotgun and charge. A lot of being good at speed runs comes from knowing the level more than skill as well. I made a few time costly mistakes that have nothing to do with how well I was playing, I just wasn't using the level layout most efficiently.

I've always said that people should play however they want. It's me thats getting all the criticism for playing how I want. I am the one of the first vanguards to stray away from the pure charge strategy, and I have gotten nothing but flak for it.
Couple of things, what makes you think you were the first Vanguard to use warp explosions. Just because I didn't make a video of it doesn't mean I didn't do it. My Vanguard vs. Collector ship video was made to show how good the Evi can be. I didn't even use squad powers, because that wasn't the point of the video. Hell I'm even using AP ammo in that video, which isn't the way to go.
The only reason you got criticism is because you implied the reave vanguard was the best and that generally invites criticism. I still disagree that the reave vanguard is the best for the reasons I've mentioned before. No reave vanguard is going to blaze through a blue suns mission as fast as a pull or energy drain vanguard.
I don't even really know why we're going over this again, I thought this got hashed out in his own thread? You wanna know why people jumped down your throat when you got here? I was going to post the intro paragraph to the first video you posted but it seems you've edited it. It used to say something along the lines of unlike all the other video posters who just charge around like morons, I actually use my brain.
That's not the way to get on anyone's good side. Following that you keep making claims that you are the first to try this or that strategy. Please, do yourself a favor and go back through this thread. We were talking about reave, and pull a LONG time ago. And why would you use pull if not for husks and warp explosions? Nothing you are doing is new, none of us just felt like showcasing it or that it would make a particularly good video. People like watching charge and shotguns, and so we've been making primarily charge and shotgun vids.
P.S I really don't think people are going out of their way to bad mouth your video on youtube from this thread. Hell, I haven't even watched any since first one you made after my charging speed run.

Yea, but for quickly disposing groups you need that AoE strip>Pull>Warp combo. That's what made the large middle group and the last group die so fast in your speed run video. Against suns you will clear the area much slower and reave will be 10 points of dead weight for the most part since I'm assuming you will be pulling on health enemies.
If you aren't making a speed run then it doesn't really matter.

You can take out a group of 3 enemies in one charge if you aim carefully and move rapidly using the Evi. Thats basically it. For times around 3:20-3:30 I think you do need to swap to sniper from time to time though. I personally can't do it, but I bet others here can. Sabre being one of them I'm sure.
ps It's an important distinction to make I think, I've always said he is a skilled dude, it's just his wild claims about inventing the "tactical vanguard" I tend to take issues with.

You can substitute reave for Charge in that middle group. Charge shoot, pull(squad) and warp, kill someone else, charge again etc. Last group might be tricker, but should be possible.

So I've been secretly working on a new strategy. To do it properly you have to Charge a frozen enemy while stuck in a rock. Then you can throw down death from the heavens at your leisure. While flying.

Dude I was stuck in the exact same rock last night doing that mission! Not only that, the endboss Krogan never spawned so I ran around the map for half an hour until I opened the wiki and just decided to reload from before and skip the mission entirely.

You could definitely do that, but I'm not sure it would be as fast. That's why I'm recommended energy drain for blue shield enemy speed runs or you could just use pull (that's what I do).Dannok1234 wrote...

The downside to Shepard being the puller rather than the stripper is you can't get cryo ammo and pull field. However, if you bring ammo squad mates with you squad cryo loses its luster. Is Bioware ever going to fix that problem D:?

I hate that stupid mission. I can't count how many times I got stuck on something and had to reload. You did not give me any happy thoughts

Hehehe yeah. Barely touch them. I Cain the Maw, use nades on the ship in Garrus' recruitment and take something for the terminator. That's about it. Not really sure why... I guess I just never think to use them.

Nice, I just did Garrus' loyalty mish and the two YMIR mechs at the end were so much easier with the Arc Projector. It's a great heavy weapon. Starting to rival the Avalanche for most best coolest. Although nothing beats Charge + Avalanche in my book. That's just so fun.

I've been using the Eviscerator form the start. Is the Katana any better?
